MONDAY, MAY 25

THE MARTIAN---photo released from the Ridley Scott movie in which an astronaut is left behind on Mars by his fellow astronauts after they thought he died in an accident. Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Jeff Daniels star.

BOURNE---Alicia Vikander (EX MACHINA) is in talks to co-star with Matt Damon in the next sequel. Vikander is also in talks to co-star with Michael Fassbender in ASSASSIN'S CREED. She will probably drop out of THE CIRCLE starring Tom Hanks due to a schedule conflict with Emma Watson in talks to replace her.

THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER---FX ordered ten episodes of the new Kurt Sutter (SONS OF ANARCHY) series bout a retired knight warrior during King Edward I's reign who is forced to return to his killing ways. Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal and Sutter star.

BURYING THE EX---poster released for the Joe Dante (GREMLINS) horror movie about a dead woman who returns as a zombie to reclaim her ex-boyfriend from his new girlfriend. Anton Yelchin, Ashley Green and Alexandria Daddario star. Premiere is June 19.

MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER---Hayley Atwell said Season 2 will have more humor, "What was very exciting is, in a second season she's grieved over Steve and she's now about to embark on a new adventure in her life. So she's in a much better place, so in terms of where she is it's going to be a lot lighter for her, there's going to be more humor to her and more warmth...I also think the show runners really want to move it forward. So it's going to be set in LA and with ten episodes it's going to be a very glamorous, dark world of 1940s Los Angeles."

TWIN PEAKS---Sherilyn Fenn and Sheryl Lee said Showtime has doubled the sequel series order from nine to 18 episodes with all being directed by David Lynch. They added that Angelo Badalamenti will compose new music for the series.

BATMAN & ROBIN---George Clooney apologized again for the 1997 sequel, "I always apologize for BATMAN & ROBIN. Let me just say that I actually thought I destroyed the franchise, ya know, until they brought it back and changed it."

THE BELKO EXPERIMENT---Michael Rooker (THE WALKING DEAD) will co-star in this movie about a US company's South American facility which is locked up and the employees ordered to kill each other or they will die.

STATIC SHOCK---Jaden Smith will star in the Warner Bros./DC Comics movie according to Tyler James Williams (THE WALKING DEAD), "...it's great to see STATIC SHOCK is happening with Jaden." Warner Bros. and DC Comics did not comment on his statement.

FULLER HOUSE---Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not be returning for the Netflix FULL HOUSE sequel series.

Really looking forward to The Martian, I really enjoyed the book. This is Ridley Scott's chance to make up for Prometheus. I'm sure they'll muck around with the colour of those desert shots to make it look like Mars.

Hated the book....couldn't finish it.
better title: ROBINSON CURSES ON MARS lol

but
the film could be good if it is told purely visually

So in other words...

Hated Batman and Robin at the time. Watched in the cinema because I love the character too much to listen to critics.

Then I saw The Dark Knight with that SHIT!!!!! scene where my hero since I was a kid acted like F*****g jerk in the cell with The Joker. Hated that with A PASSION. SO WRONG! Cannot believe Bob Kane would have approved of that no way.

Loved the last one however.

Caught up with B&R again on tv later, and thought that now it's in the past it's ok!

Also I am loving the Adam West show on Blu-ray.

It all falls into place. There's a different way every time just there is in the comics. In this way the movies really are mirroring the source.

Clooney has nothing to apologise for. He was actually great. As with West, Kilmer, Lowery and Wilson he used his real voice. Both the silly whispering of the Burton films and godawful growling (which is THE most embarrassing voice ever for Batman) of the Nolan stuff were misplaced. One place where poetic/dramatic licence has to come in.

I agree. I think he had the potential to be the best Batman.

Haven't read the book and generally speaking I'm not a huge fan of Ridley Scott but I adore Robinson Crusoe On Mars so I'm kind of hoping this will be a sort of serious version of that (albeit without Martians)

You guys have to be taking the piss. Batman & Robin is awful. Forever was solid (for the time, not 20 years later), but B&R is a real hunk of sh!t.

But you're right, Clooney has no need to apologize. Sometimes a bad, bad, bad movie needs to happen in order to wake people up. Thanks to that infraction, we got Nolan's awesome trilogy.

Batman & Robin is a hugely entertaining movie, if just because it is so consistently bad throughout. I especially like the fact that Batman uses his Batarang in every singe action scene, in exactly the same way (even when he is in the Batmobile).

But George Clooney was actually really good in the role and it would have been great to see him do it in a film written by someone other than Akiva Goldsmith and directed by someone other than Joel Schumacher.

Ages before he was cast as Bats, I always thought Clooney would have made a brilliant Green Hornet if they ever did a serious version of that (I wanted styled like The Untouchables). Ironically, he was originally attached to that project when it was at Universal and Joe Dante was due to helm it. The final version of that film was a piece of cack and the lead was hopelessly miscast.

Batman & Robin is a mess but it's a hilarious mess because it's a giant fascist, homosexual opera. I don't like it at all but I get "the joke", it just wasn't well-written at all. Still, I'll happily take it over the stick, stone stupid and overly literal Nolan films.

I have no input on Static Shock as a character or a thing but Jaden Smith is one of the worst "actors" working today; so much so, I just went back to put the word actor in quotation blocks.

Oh LeHah, you're such a beacon of light and optimism, LOL! smile

I thought BATMAN & ROBIN is great campy fun for what it is, but I'll take the Nolan films any day of the week. The Clooney quote comes from this Saturday's Graham Norton show, by the way. Useful with sources and all that.

Looking immensely forward to THE MARTIAN, and seeing TWIN PEAKS now unfolding at twice the amount of episodes. Two masters of cinema (and personal favourites) back in action soon.

I thought I couldn't dislike anything more than Batman & Robin, until the Nostalgia Critic came to be. Still hope they get him on fraud after the scam he pulled with that Game show fund raiser. Ha! Now that was funny.

I think he's an incredibly smart, sensitive and retrospective critic, and shows real passion for his work. I also think he's hilarious. I never heard of any fraud or scams on his part.

After a year and a half, behold the fruit of those dollars at work. OIr wait, do I mean the complete lack of any production. Behold the set, the incredible lighting, and the camera shotgun microphone used by the host. Watch as Brad Jones nearly falls asleep reading questions. Listen to question actually taken from a board game.

They're trying really hard to keep this one quiet as many are asking for their money back, or an investigation.

Right. Bob Kane. The creator of Batman who was trying to compete with the violent pulp novels of the era, and had featured his creation killing and using firearms against violent offenders. Versus the modern tale of Batman being put into a circumstance by the maniacal Joker to physically command information from the villain?

Some people still think Batman is the guy from Superfriends.

Plus, Bill Finger deserves as much recognition as Bob Kane.

Yeah, I don't hold the other producers at fault for this. Even Brad was just brought in to be the host. But this is some pretty shady stuff. There is more to the story as well which you can find online pretty easy. Suspicious firings, the sudden change of webhosts and name (They no longer allow themselves to be called "That Guy With The Glasses". They now only allow "Channel Awesome"). So something stinks in Denmark and I guess it just shaded my opinion of the Walkers overall.
