I should have said the music in the rear channels is almost 100% clean of sound effects and dialogue... There's a few sound effects here and there. Since the 5.1 and 7.1 were created for the DVD and Blu-ray, the music had to have come from somewhere and since the music in the rear channels is nearly clean, it came from a clean source... possibly the masters.

Not necessarily. The source could have film edits, could have volume that goes up and down, and could have those sound effects. I work with sound mixers all the time (on television shows), some of whom have remixed old movies for DVD/Blu-Ray releases. It's quite possible those sound effects are married to the music (yes, they can still futz with the sound enough to move those sounds around among the surround speakers to a degree, but they can't just remove them). They tell such stories all the time (and I think I'm the only non-sound guy who's interested in hearing them!).

Let me put it this way: When "Star Trek" was remastered for Blu-Ray, people here were convinced the music had been taken from the masters, which we now know were not in Paramount's possession when those Blu-Rays were created.

Of course, you could be completely right. I have no clue. I'm just saying your circumstantial evidence has a few holes.
