We are very excited to re-lease the soundtrack to Paul Verhoeven's ROBOCOP featuring the score by Basil Poledouris. The CD / Digital / 2xLP release will come out on July 17.
the 23 track album has been remastered from the original tapes in the MGM vaults. Warner Studios in Burbank handled the mix and the mastering.
The CD and digital release will feature the theatrical key poster we all know.
The vinyl release has been supervised by Nicolas Winding Refn and is presented on a tip-on silver/metallic gatefold with an original artwork by Jay Shaw. 3,000 units of the vinyl were pressed on 180gm red vinyl.

Wait, what? He took a break from his directing career to oversee the vinyl release of a film score? Is there a different Refn working in the film score industry?
When asked about a re-release over at Intrada, Roger said they'd love to but the right were now with the company that were going to release it on LP (or something like that), so I'm glad it's getting a CD release as well.
It's great that it's coming out again for fans who missed the Intrada release. I think if you do own the Intrada release, I don't think this will offer anything new or better. The Intrada was a pretty definitive release.
Interesting. While I would agree that the music of Starship Troopers plays the "borderline camp" (albeit intentionally), I wouldn't say the same about Robocop - at least not the score per se.
The source cues, that's another story (also the film itself of course). Maybe Refn is referring to the whole package though.

But this has the Nicolas Winding Refn seal of approval! Which probably means something to someone.
