Sounds like it was about a very tough kept woman, but I was really about a big knife.
Directed by Gordon Douglas.

Well, I'll be damned. I forgot about that one. Could be.

Oh yes. And here is what I meant by "Leaned on a Man" - most bizarrely, the music for the song was written by Leonard Rosenman -

Chickenhearted, thanks for the win, but in all fairness, I missed it. The prize should go to James.

Thanks, mgh! This title, though, I've only known as THE BIG LAND. I take it that it was re-issued at some point as STAMPEDED (?)

"Stampeded" was the title of the film in the U.K. and Australia.

Oddly, the Australian poster above (and a French poster I've seen) indicates that the film is in "WarnerScope." But neither the U.S. poster below, nor any other source confirms this, and AFAIK the film was shot in cropped widescreen (1.85:1). The film was originally copyrighted by Alan Ladd Enterprises, and Warner Bros. must only have very poor elements available to them. By all reports, the Warner Archive MOD DVD of the film has inconsistent color, and was issued in the 1.33:1 ratio.
