What's the release date on THE SEARCHERS ?

"Early June" It's on the Butterfield Stage and we're getting into the rainy season!!!

Butterfield Stage, 3:10 To Yuma? Is this a clue Ray? smile

Nope. Just one of the more famous coach services of the era.

Since it's come up (sort of), does anyone know if elements exists for the original 3:10 to Yuma?

Hey, just got in from my bike ride, checked the mailbox, and thar she blows! Hardly had time to towel off before heading straight to track 35 (as threatened in a couple of threads). Marvelous, just marvelous. But oy, who handles the packaging for this outfit, Ace Ventura? The case, she arrived in high cruncheth condition. Not fatal, the music's/CD's the thing, but producers take note! smile

Hi Ray,

I noticed that the notes on the SAE site say that this score was recorded at Goldwyn. Is there a reason it wasn't recorded at Warners?

Well, it was an independent production. Maybe the Goldwyn stage was cheaper, or available, or maybe Max requested it. Don't know for sure. No letters or memos to point the way.

I got my copy today and playing it right now. Really outstanding sound quality and much improved over the original of 20 years ago. It's a favorite Steiner score of mine. When I first saw the film about 1965 I didn't really care for the title song. Max so skillfully weaved the song through the fabric of the film that now I really like it! It's a very colorful score and can be both tender and powerful.
The big 32 page colorful booklet is very interesting reading and worth the price alone. Highly recommended.

Wonderful production Ray, please keep them coming! smile

My friend PFK, your expectations on THE SEARCHERS seems to have been met completely. Glad to see we are both very happy about this release. Looking forward to FIGHTER SQUADRON, the next BYU release.

Fantastic CD. Well worth the wait.

One question: The last track (the full song) is different to the version on the older release. Why was the newer version used in preference to the old? Over time I had grown fond of the old version. It's no problem because I now have both, but I'm curious as to why one was chosen over the other for the new release.

Both were made up of four different recordings. I preferred to make up a new composite with the verses in chronological order and mixing in the far away recording at the very end. I also tried to balance the sound between the four verses, which were all quite disparate in ambience and condition. Just my personal preference. There is no "official" recording other than the one the Sons did for RCA.
