Can’t think of any examples of him writing for accordion, perhaps in one of his film scores, not sure. However, there are one or two great accordion covers of “Waltz no. 2” on YouTube.

Is it me or does much of the material sound like a riff on the march tune from Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony? It really is quite similar, enough that I imagine it's intentional. Then again, Shostakovich never mixed it up with accordion music...


No, it's not just you. You're spot on. I first heard Jarre's score. Later on the Leningrad symphony.
