This was just sent to me by a friend in the UK, would be interested to know if anyone else smelt a rat with these two before...

I agree some of these examples are asking a bit much but with copyright laws as they are insisting that a breach has only been made in the event of an 'imitation of melody and/or countermelody'... notwithstanding lyrics, it's hard to see how Arnalds would get away with this if Richter were to do anything about it, especially given the farcical situation at the moment with the Gaye estate (oh lord, I mentioned it. Was trying so hard not to).

Anybody see Testament of Youth? Thought track was better than the Leftovers personally

Some of those are reaching for it, IMO. Both composers work in a similar idiom, so there's bound to be some stylistic overlap. I was more surprised when I heard Jeff Beal channel Richter's THE LEFTOVERS in the third season of HOUSE OF CARDS.

Especially given Arnalds has a video on youtube where he admits to listening to Richter 24/7 LOL.

Beth's theme from Arnald's BROADCHURCH score vs Vladimir's Blues is maybe the most obvious, but then again FOK/SUNLIGHT comparison is pretty dead on to me as well - can 'stylistic overlap' clear the way for blatant imitation of articulation/texture? I like Arnalds but I can't help he's shot himself in the foot with all those references to how much he is inspired by Richter... as well as the references in his music
