More like a low-key Last Mimzy...maybe Mrs Doubtfire? Bin a while since I played my CD.
Not as gorgeous as Big, but then not much is wink

I love this score. If you enjoy Shore's LOTR music for "The Shire", I would think you like this. Very bright and sunny, without any cheesy pop elements. Curious about the extra music.

This is a lovely score. I'm not sure I'd liken it to Shire music. It's much less sprightly for the most part. But it is wonderful music and I highly recommend people pick this up.

Interestingly I think it was an early example of Lukas Kendall writing liner notes...

ORDER “NOBODY’S FOOL: LIMITED EDITION” at www.lalalandrecords.com on MAY 5 starting at 12noon (PST).

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures proudly present the remastered and expanded re-issue of acclaimed composer Howard Shore’s (THE LORD OF THE RINGS / THE HOBBIT TRILOGIES, COPLAND, DEAD RINGERS) original motion picture scores to the beloved 1994 feature film drama NOBODY’S FOOL, starring Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy and Melanie Griffith, and directed by Robert Benton. Shore’s emotionally rich and poignant score is the perfect foundation for one of the best and most memorable dramas of the 1990’s. Like Paul Newman’s lead character Sully, this important score has “aged to perfection” and is finally given a deluxe presentation with this special release. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this presentation includes bonus tracks (showcasing alternates and original album versions) and is limited to 1500 Units. The CD Booklet features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Tim Greiving and Goldwasser’s heartfelt art design is the icing on the cake.

Nobody's Fool is one of those films I watch at least once a year. Pretty sure I saw it during its theatrical release. Anyway, I saw it last night and just ordered the soundtrack. The opening credits sequence did me in, as always, and I knew it was time. Writer/Director Robert Benton did the same thing he did with Places In The Heart by filming screenshots of various locales central to the story that follows. Howard Shore's main theme is so beautiful, capturing a sense of wistfulness that underscores both the Newman character and the small-town upstate New York setting. The whole production has tremendous heart. For me, Newman's "Sully" ranks right up there with his Hud and Luke. The entire supporting cast, for that matter, is outstanding as well.

I finally picked this up, I'm a Shore completist, but had put off getting this since I already had the original album. So glad I got this, I had forgotten how gorgeous it is, intensely melodic, and it really does foreshadow a lot of his LOTR scoring. Stunning work.
