WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22

STAR TREK 3---the title for the sequel is apparently STAR TREK BEYOND after Paramount Pictures registered the title with the Motion Picture Association of America.
Simon Pegg, who is the co-writer/co-star of the sequel, said the villain will be a new character and not recycled from previous Trek works, "It will be [an original character], yes. This is the five-year mission now, we're out there. We don't always have to keep bumping into the same people...It's a massive universe. So we're gonna try and reflect that in the movie. Idris [Elba] is an extraordinary actor, and we're trying to write him a kickass role."
Pegg said the undisclosed plot was inspired by the original STAR TREK tv series, "We can invest in it the spirit of the show and get back to the essence of what it is, and so what we're hoping to do is make a Star Trek for today that doesn't forget where it came from."

GALAXY QUEST---Paramount Television is developing a tv series based on the 1999 STAR TREK satire movie that starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. It's not known if the tv series is a reboot or sequel to the movie.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES---photo released from the sequel now filming.

ANT-MAN---Joss Whedon commented on the original script co-written by Edgar Wright, who left the movie due to creative differences with Marvel Studios, "I don't get it. I thought the script was not only the best script that Marvel had ever had, but the most Marvel script I'd read. I had no interest in Ant-Man. [Then] I read the script, and was like, 'Of course! This is so good!' It reminded me of the books when I read them. Irreverent and funny and could make what was small large, and vice versa."

PREACHER---W. Earl Brown (DEADWOOD) will play Sheriff Hugo Root in the AMC series based on the comic book.

MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL---Netflix renewed the series for Season 2 and ordered ten episodes of an untitled sitcom starring Aziz Ansari. Also, Comedy Central renewed INSIDE AMY SCHUMER, TV Land renewed YOUNGER. MTV renewed FAKING IT, BROKE $$ GAME SHOW and ARE YOU THE ONE? and canceled EYE CANDY.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---Henry Cavill commented on the movie, “I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman vs. Superman so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character and expanding upon the universe which was kicked off by MAN OF STEEL….as it stands it’s definitely an introduction to the character and ultimately an introduction to Justice League.”

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST---Ewan MacGregor will play Lumiere, the animated candlestick, and Stanley Tucci will play Cadenza, the grand piano, in the Walt Disney Pictures remake movie.

ROBIN HOOD---a fourth Robin Hood movie is underway with a script by Will Beall (GANGSTER SQUAD). The other movies are underway at Sony Pictures, Lionsgate and Walt Disney Pictures.

Curious.
I wonder if the show will be their ficticious space adventures, or if it will be about them as the actual people who merely act in the show.

Probably both. They've gone back to their jobs as the GQ show has been picked back up, and once again they are come to for help. But the cast has one condition: they want to stay on Earth, so some kind of device (Stargate, anybody? Ship with warp capabilities maybe?) is developed so they can be taken off world to help any time, like during down time and breaks between seasons. They have to not only balance their lives on earth, but balance the universe.

Sounds like Shatner's wildest dreams made real. LOL
