That's the way Mr Beltrami wanted it produced. He likes the original album as is and felt that there was no need to release the complete score. He did allow us to add some bonus material and remaster the original album.

I agree it's pretty disappointing, John W; for a score this excellent every cue should ideally be included and since there's 17 minutes more space on the disc and the additional cues were being relegated to a separate section anyway (therefore more of them would not disrupt the flow of the "album" any more) it's too bad that Beltrami didn't agree.

But we've seen this many times before when labels do expanded scores of composers still living...many John Williams expansions in particular are not complete (heck, the lastest Indiana Jones release was missing music that was on the previous issue!) And even though FSM almost always did complete scores, that wasn't the case whenever they worked with David Shire to put out an album for one of his.

So I say let's look on the bright side:

1. There IS more music on this release, and it's presumably the music the composer himself found to be the most interesting.

2. It's remastered.

3. The cover is better as is almost certainly the entire graphic design thanks to Dan Goldwasser (plus it's not a digipak!)

4. There are in-depth JEFF BOND liner notes! Woohoo!

5. Perhaps most importantly of all, it's BACK IN PRINT and available for people to purchase! It's bizarre that a fairly recent Oscar-nominated score went out of print so quickly, and there was clearly demand for it as copies of the original were fetching high prices.

We usually let folks know a week in advance, but this time out we didn't know if we were going to have signed booklets until late Monday. Mr Beltrami is incredibly busy working on Fantastic Four so having him sign these booklets for you guys was nothing short of a miracle! smile

Thanks for putting this together and having Marco autograph some books. There is a sample on Marco Beltrami's website called Fonda's Toss 4m3. Is it on this release?
