I searched and couldn't find an existing thread for this one. On 5/4/15, Silva Screen will be releasing a 2-CD set of music from the Hobbit and LOTR films, as performed by The City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra:

UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ULI3JXG
USA: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ULI3JXG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3L3AGJTMSK4M7&coliid=I2SN09PBUFW5Q

It appears very similar to the 2013 album "Music from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AO7YN20/ref=dm_rogue_cd), with two exceptions: an entire disc devoted to each of the film trilogies, and each contains instrumental versions of all the non-Howard Shore songs on each of the films' albums (for example, Enya's "May It Be" from Fellowship).

Here's a link to the MP3 album containing samples:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Hobbit-Rings-Music-Collection/dp/B00VX75UCC/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1429540551&sr=1-1&keywords=complete+hobbit

Sounds fantastic! Anyone planning on picking this up? And does anyone happen to know if this album represents a wholly new re-recording different from the 2013 one (for the LotR portion, anyways)? Based on track times of this newer one compared to the 2013, I assume the answer is no.

Oh, I'm all about that! Would have preferred just a Hobbit collection, since I already own the LOTR tracks twice (the 2-disc LOTR compilation, and the first Hobbit/LOTR collection - but I'll takes what I can get smile

Hmm, I didn't find any of the end title songs in the HOBBIT films to be memorable in any way (the best one was the final one, which ripped-off the Shore sound without involving him but was no Into The West), so instrumental versions of them seems like a waste of disc space to me. TBH, the best LOTR songs were the two that Howard Shore was involved in. Such a shame that he wasn't involved in any of the songs this time.

Oh I love the idea of the end title music without the vocals! I'll pick them up for sure. Don't need the whole album though.

If they are anything like the Silva LOTR versions, there will be a solo instrument performing the vocal line. So it won't be a "karaoke" version without the melody - all parts will be performed, just not with voices.

Thxs for the additional info. Still sounds cool to me.

Would be interested in The Hobbit Disc - the LOTR stuff is all from the 2disc LOTR Trilogy set from 10 years ago. I have a few Hobbit tracks from various compilations, but it will probably be cheaper to buy the whole thing than the individual tracks I am missing. :-/

What I don't get is how they get to call it "complete".

Other than it being marketing BS, of course. frown

I might pick this one up. I have the OST for the six films, though I've never bought any of Silva's previous releases so this is as good a time as any.

I see the LOTR Trilogy box set is only 10GBP at Amazon, that's good value.

It's the Complete CoPPO/Silva recordings, of course wink

(if you don't take into account nearly an entire disc of content from LOTR)

I LOVE the instrumental end-titles version of The Two Towers on the Silva compilation. I think the Gollum song solo is played by a viola. That alone was worth the purchase of the original LOTR comp. for me - so if that sounds appealing, this will be worth picking up if you don't already have it.

Finally got this after preordering a looooong time ago. I'm glad Silva fleshed out their recordings from the first movie, and went on to complete an album with the rest of the trilogy (although I wish they had tackled ""My Dear Frodo," "The Forest River" and "Beyond the Forest" - all personal favorites of mine).

There are some really nice new orchestral/instrumental arrangements of the dwarves' Misty Mountains song, and the three end credits songs.

Any one else pick this up?

You are correct, these are the previous rerecordings. If they were going to pick up the tab on some new LOTR recordings (probably not likely given the amount they've done), it would probably be pieces they haven't tackled yet.

I finally picked this up and I'm enjoying disc one. (I never bought/listened to the hobbit scores outside of the film before)

As far as this compares to the LOTR double box from over a decade ago, it appears that this has everything except the finale track from Return of the King and the vocal versions of the songs.
