Amoeba is having a 15% off sale right now and shipping is always fast and free. There is a used version of this release on there for $100.00. With 15% off and free shipping, you are looking at $85.00. Too rich for my blood but a great deal if you are looking for this. I have never regretted an Amoeba purchase.

I'll probably sell my copy (in good condition) for a little less than that or offer for trade, in the near future.

And I would advise any person interested in buying the Varese CD to be patient and wait for a much cheaper re-issue.

Not that I'm complaining about my Club release. I love that CD.

An Varese Encore would be wonderful to coincide with the release of the score to the new film, not sure if there's been any news?

I have a question related to the mastering of this CD. I noticed that Erick Labson is credited on the back. As many here know, some of his masters for Varese have been severely brick-walled. I was wondering whether this is one of them. I listened to a few tracks today and they don't sound bad, at least not as bad as the Peggy Sue Got Married Deluxe. Any thoughts?

My copy sounds perfectly fine, even if the score wasn't that great, in hindsight.

Can't say I agree with you on the score, it's one of my favourite 80's scores and was the one that introduced me to EB's music, so I'll always be sentimental about it. I'll admit the complete score is tough to get through and could have done with a proper album sequence (40 mins or so). Dana's theme is sublime.

I was most upset that Elmer didn't score the (inferior) sequel. Wonder if Theodore Shapiro will quote any of Elmer's themes in the reboot?

Like I said in another thread when I found out Labson had worked on it:

Damnit, that's what's wrong with "Ghostbusters". It always sounded kind of flat and weird, too loud sometimes and dynamics missing.

I think it may have been reverbed a little too much, too, at times.

It's a personal favorite of mine and I can only hope some label does right by it some day, as well as including the whole score (and the two restaurant souce cues by Bernsterin). I'd gladly buy it again.

My memory is horrible but I thought at one point there was a similar question in another thread and MV posted it was best not to spend that money WINK WINK.

New movie and score arrives in less than two weeks. I'm hoping there's some news about a possible re-release. smile

I think that this new movie ruins possibility of releasing scores for TRUE Ghostbusters movies this year.
Remember when LLL couldn't release Empire of Sun 'cause completely new Williams score was come (it was Book Thief if I remember correctly)?
So (sadly) I think that Sony will not allow to release them right now... frown

Listened to this CD the other day. It's a fun score and I'd buy a better version.

It's really a shame Sony didn't let a specialty label release a 30th Anniversary Edition of Ghostbusters along with a 25th Anniversary Edition of Ghostbusters II in 2014. That would have been really cool. You'd think they'd at least capitalize on the new movie this year to finally allow someone to work on them, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyways, the Varese CD is really odd, especially how after the end credits, it suddenly plays a random piece of music Elmer wrote for his "Merlin" play. How did that happen?

so hoping the score gets re-issued again with better dynamic compression. I'm sure 3,000 more copies would sell. I'm hoping for really cool cover art also, nothing like the dreaded Blu Ray art work. Each release gets worse and worse!
