It's amazing that something like this is considered news. Weren't we all issued at least one version of this during our lifetimes?

It's the same version as the Blu-ray. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/040715_1430 I must admit, I'm not really sure what the fuss about this is. The Blu-ray has been available for a while, I don't see the advantage of having it as a bunch of digital files when I already have those discs in nice packaging on my shelf. And I'm not biting and paying $90.00 to get the new extras.

It's a desperate attempt to milk the already existing Blu-Ray transfers repackaged before the inevitable Blu-Ray release of the original unaltered versions Disney is currently and painstakingly trying to clean up elements and rights issues on Episode 4 with FOX. And to all the naysayers that still want to defend that we will not see the films unaltered, It will give me great pleasure to say ' I told you so" next year. :-)

There are a lot of people who consume media (music, movies, TV shows, etc) on their phones and tablets. Probably the majority of people age 25 and below these days. There are also many others who have gotten rid of physical media and gone wholly digital/cloud-based. This is for them. Indeed. I, for one, am happy with the news. Although I've ripped the dvd's on my computer, I will be buying them. I skipped the blu-ray (I've skipped blu-ray altogether) in the wait for an HD iTunes-release. That the films will be available in a cloud-environment is for this traveller with two home addresses more than a bonus.

Or make them very happy. Many people love the prequels, and love digital movies. Which needs to be said every time the usual canards come out, so done and done.

I have never heard anyone say that they LOVE digital movies. I LOVE digital movies. Yes, I still want my physical media (that nobody can mess with). But I love being able to pull up a gorgeous streaming copy on Vudu or Flixster.
