Anyone else love this obscure early 90's sci-fi score, with its big sweeping love theme and terrific action cues?

Also know as FUGA DAL PARADISO...

Never heard of it, but intrigued by the notion of Michel Legrand scoring a sci fi -- and in the 90s even!

It is a great score and quite interesting one in the Legrand discography. Of course he ventured to space before with the TV series "Il était une fois...l'Espace" smile

The score for ESCAPE FROM PARADISE was released by RAI in Italy couple of years ago and was an instant purchase, one which I do not regret!

Any movie that has camels with sunglasses, I just gotta see it.

Interesting...too bad I could not find (so far) listening samples on YT, because here in Italy the cd is still regularly sold, and it would be easy for me to get it.

I love "Il était une fois...l'Espace"! Extremely curious now!

I would only be interest in this if the CD artwork had a camel with sunglasses

Legrand is my favorite living composer, but somehow I've never even heard of this. I'm very intrigued.

Dylan, knowing your taste, I think you'll really dig. First few tracks are kinda neo-classical and source-like but things change quickly. Along with MOUNTAIN MEN it's definitely some of Legrand's strongest action music. The end title is just gorgeous. Such a wonderful send-off!

I think that this was my favourite Legrand until this year's LA RANÇON DE LA GLOIRE - which gives it a run for its money.

If I remember, it was one of those unknown gems I came across at SAE when it was released on CD (in 2006?). I couldn't find out much about it and just had the audio clips to go by. But it was a great buy.

No camels with glasses.

These are the images of the album:

Same here.

I blind bought Fuga Dal Paradiso during 2006 from SAE when it was a new release CD.

Don't play this that often, to be honest. Not a fave of mine.

Did anyone ever get this or have any thoughts? I'm surprised the one person who chimed in seemed indifferent to the score. I think it's really wonderful even if it takes a few tracks to get going. That end title is pure Legrand gold. A great theme of high romance within the sci-fi genre along the lines of Princess Leia's Theme, the Colwyn and Lyssa love theme from Krull, etc. - Don't hesitate people.

I wish I could find the movie. It appears to be INCREDIBLY obscure. Almost no reviews anywhere online. Only one review on IMDB (fairly favorable). I couldn't even say if it's as cheesy as the poster art leads one to believe or not. It's like a cinematic enigma. I wonder how on earth an Oscar-winning composer got involved in this?

This popped up in rotation this morning and got me curious as to whether or not anyone ended up picking this up, or hand any thoughts. Wonderful score. That end title is quintessential Legrand, a big ravishingly fully-developed and long-lined love theme given a PRINCESS LEIA'S THEME-style concert performance.

In scope, the orchestral scale of this one is very muscular, something rarely afforded by some of Legrand's more pop-centric efforts. Really, really fine music that deserves a wider audience for sure!

I picked it up back when you made your initial post and have listened to it a couple of times. Nice score!

I haven't picked this up yet but it indeed sounds great from these audio samples:

It's quite the revelation that Michel Legrand was hired to write a big, soaring, neo-classical sci-fi score like this.

This entire film has showed up on YouTube, in Italian with no subtitles. It's either sourced from Italian television or an Italian VHS release:

I skimmed through it and it's a very low budget post-apocalyptic film - a very unusual project for Michel Legrand to be involved in. But it's a great score. So good to finally be able to hear in full the wonderful End Title that bobbengan so eloquently raved about above.
