La-La Land Records and Lionsgate present the remastered and expanded re-issue of acclaimed composer Marco Beltrami’s (SCREAM, HELLBOY, THE HURT LOCKER, THE WOLVERINE) Oscar-nominated original motion picture score to the acclaimed 2007 feature film 3:10 TO YUMA, starring Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Peter Fonda, and directed by James Mangold. Beltrami honors this thoughtful and thrilling re-imagining of the original 1957 YUMA with a rich orchestral score that brilliantly mixes period instrumental approaches with a modern orchestral group and recording techniques. The result is both a tribute to traditional western movie scores and an inventive soundscape that reflects the brutal existence of the movie’s characters. Produced by Marco Beltrami, Buck Sanders and Dan Goldwasser, and mastered by Erick Labson, this special limited release of 3000 Units sounds better than ever and is expanded with a selection of exciting bonus tracks. Quick-draw art design by Dan Goldwasser features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Jeff Bond, with new interview comments from the composer.

Got mine in the mail yesterday, and like John W in the La La Land PR thread, I too received a surprise bonus copy of the liner note booklet with MB's signature. Very excellent.

CD sounds great! I'm glad they kept the original album presentation because it is just so perfect, but the bonus cues are great too. Love to hear more badass Charlie Prince material.

The second half of "Fistful of Dollars" is a great sort of alternate to the classic original CD track "Bible Study", although a bit more restrained. For those that don't know, the cue Marco originally wrote for the "Fistful of Dollars" scene was "Bible Study". James Mangold thought the cue would fit much better over the actual eventual scene "Bible Study" played over, Bale and Crowe escaping through the town. Thus, the cue "Fistful of Dollars" bears resemblance to "Bible Study" as they both were written for the same scene (although ultimately and obviously altered to differ to match the different accompanying scene).

Stay after the silence of the last track, "Bad to the Bone/Fireside" for a jaunty "Prickly Pear" surprise...

Great release La La!

Hello,
Are you sure of your chronological order?

It is. A few tracks (with a slash sign) combine cues from different scenes. To arrange them more or less "correctly" I used La-La's notes.

Is "Prickly Pear" the actual title of this easter egg?
It's a source track obviously - was it written by Beltrami? Where does it go in the chrono track listing?

Yes, "Prickly Pear" is the actual title of the easter egg.

It is a source track and it's slate number is 4m8/5m0 which would put it right between "Chinese Democracy" and "Hotel". Longtime Beltrami orchestrator Bill Boston wrote "Prickly Pear".

Thanks very much, Deputy!

Could you perhaps also comment on the above chronological tracklist someone has kindly posted? I'd like to split the cues that were combined on the album to put them in the original intended order.

That would be a little difficult unfortunately...sometimes a track from the CD will contain different segments of complete score cues, one CD track has 3 different complete score cue segments combined ("Indian Grounds" combines "Three Little Indians", "Injun Grounds", and "Campfire Song") but I'm not sure offhand where the separation of each cue within the track is...some CD tracks are named differently than their complete score cue counterparts. If I have time I will try to sort it out it is just a bit complicated!

For all intents and purposes, however, the above chronological tracklist is correct...
