MONDAY, MARCH 30

GAME OF THRONES---George RR Martin is concentrating on finishing his sixth book, THE WINDS OF WINTER, so he won't write scripts for Seasons 5 and 6, "[A]fter wrestling with it for a month or so, I've decided not to script an episode for season six of GAME OF THRONES. Writing a script takes me three weeks, minimum, and longer when it is not a straight adaptation from the novels. And really, it would cost me more time than that, since I have never been good at changing gears from one medium to another and back again. Writing a season six script would cost me a month's work on WINDS, and maybe as much as six weeks, and I cannot afford that. With David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Bryan Cogman on board, the scriptwriting chores for season six should be well covered. My energies are best devoted to WINDS."
THE WINDS OF WINTER is expected to be released in 2016.

THE X-FILES---Chris Carter commented on his Fox miniseries, “We’re going to tell X-Files the way that we’ve always told them; we will of course set them in the time and place that they exist. We’re telling contemporary stories about contemporary situations, true to Mulder and Scully’s characters and their relationship and the passage of time.” Carter added that former writer/producers are returning, "We’ve lured Darin (Glen) Morgan and Jim Wong, we’re very excited about that and we’re working on the rest.”
He said about the original series' 2012 colonization and Scully giving her child away, "I've thought about that. I don't know exactly how I'm going to address it, in a big way, a mild way, a modern way, a mention or a plot point. And of course you can't avoid to deal with the William (arc) in some way or another."

STAR TREK 3---Simon Pegg, who returns as co-writer/co-star in the Justin Lin sequel, said about using departed Roberto Orci's script, "No. It's completely new. I haven't read Bob (Orci)'s script and they didn't want us to. So we went back to the drawing board. We had creative meetings with Justin and there were things he wanted in there.
I haven't written like this before. I've never been a custodian of something, it's usually mine what I'm writing. Whereas with this, you're given a bunch of stuff -- 'Look we want this in it and this in it.' Or Justin will say -- he's got an amazing visual mind, Justin. He's great at that kind of choreography. So he'll say, 'What if this happens?' So Doug [Jung] and I go, 'Okay, right, let's try and get that into it.' So it's an interesting process.
Also rumors of a new CBS Star Trek tv series based on an old project titled STAR TREK: FEDERATION were denied. Robert Meyer Burnett, who was involved in FEDERATION, said, "All of the FEDERATION information is true...but we did that TEN YEARS AGO. The treatment was written but effectively killed when JJ [Abrams] took over. It never went further than the treatment...and no one ever pitched it..."

THE WALKING DEAD---Robert Kirkman announced the title for the spinoff prequel series is FEAR THE WALKING DEAD.

BLADE RUNNER 2---Sean Young says she doubts she will reunite with Harrison Ford in the sequel, "I saw Ridley [Scott] a month ago, and not a peep was uttered from his mouth about it, and so I left it alone."

SHARKNADO 3---former PLAYBOY Bunnies Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson will cameo in the Sy Fy sequel. Madison will play a military sergeant "who helps Fin (Ian Ziering) and Nova (Cassie Scerbo) at a military base in the Carolinas." Wilkinson will play Flo, "a waitress at a roadside dinner owned and run by Gilbert Grayson Shephard (David Hasselhoff), Fin's dad."

SHERLOCK---Steven Moffat commented on the new season, "The first series was all about the beginning of their friendship. Second about the formative stages, the love and fear and loss and all that. The third was good days, me and my pal and my pal's wife. Those are golden days. The missing element in a lot of Sherlock Holmes adaptations is allowing it to be funny..."
[Season 4] is going to be…consequences. It's consequences. Chickens come to roost. It's dark in some ways - obviously it's great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that - but there's a sense of… things… coming back to bite you...It's hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it's going to be bloody frightening."

HUMANS---AMC released a photo of Gemma Chan from the sci fi series set in a parallel present in which a family gets a refurbished robot servant which leads to dire consequences. William Hurt stars.

DEADPOOL---Ryan Reynolds released a photo of his costume.

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---Vincent D'Onofrio is in talks to play the villain in the remake of the 1960 John Sturges Western that starred Yul Bryner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Charles Bronson. The remake stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke.

DOCTOR WHO---the BBC confirmed that Maisie Williams (GAME OF THRONES) will be a guest star.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2---Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio will co-star in the sequel. JJ Redick, one of several Los Angeles Clippers players who will cameo in the sequel, said the sequel's sub-title is HALF-SHELL.

SUICIDE SQUAD---Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, will reunite with his FURY writer/director David Ayer, in an undisclosed role.

Having not seen any episodes of X-FILES since it aired (beyond the movies), it occurs to me that I've forgotten all about these arc elements. 2012 colonization? Scully giving her child away? William? WTF?

Worth pointing out that this is a remake of the Swedish series ÄKTA MÄNNISKOR aka REAL HUMANS -- a wonderful show and probably the best TV series produced in Scandinavia in a long time. Unfortunately, it came to standstill after season 2 and has been in limbo for at least two years now. And now that the Americans are remaking it, it bodes even worse for the fate of the original. Oh well. I'm mildly curious about how it will look in an American culture.

Can I tell you? This can only be good news...

I've never heard of Deadpool.

That pose looks a bit camp for a superhero.

He's the Merc with a Mouth -- irreverent, clinically insane, and, like Wolverine, nigh immortal due to a healing factor. He's the type of offbeat character who's been known to break the fourth wall in the comics. He's not your typical comics hero or antihero, and I imagine the voices in his head will be very difficult to translate well to screen, but if they manage it the movie could be something special.

Yup. His whole breaking-the-fourth-wall thing is a big win in my book, and has potential to be hilarious if done correctly. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I know Ryan Reynolds has a huge passion for this Deadpool project. I have a big feeling he'll do the character justice.

I do as well, especially with the BadRobot hacks not involved with the story. Onward and upward.

2012 colonization? Scully giving her child away? William? WTF?

Colonization has always been a major point in the conspiracy - but the 2012 date was revealed in the final two-part episode. (I think its on a computer monitor that Mulder reads in a military base)

William was Scully's child but I forget the details about him because it was so damned convoluted. The child was part alien... or something? And Jeffery Spender had to inject him with something?

I'll say! I just read the full X-files Wiki article about William and I still can't piece it together. I guess it was left a bit murky. Before I read it, I had remembered that William was actually Mulder/Scully's. But I watched the series in 2007, so it's a little hazy for me these days.

BLADE RUNNER 2---Sean Young says she doubts she will reunite with Harrison Ford in the sequel, "I saw Ridley [Scott] a month ago, and not a peep was uttered from his mouth about it, and so I left it alone."

Perhaps somewhat regretful, but in the end, we want to remember her for the Rachael of 2019.

In fact, I don't need to see the return of Deckard either. I prefer an all new world, cast and story ... As long as it's about replicants you don't need to rely on what already has been told or shown.
