hmm... not particularly interesting guest list unfortunately... the first signing after such a long time... what those guys actually had to do with I, Frankenstein? If there were both Klimek and Heil who actually composed the score invited, I wouldn't hesitate a single second... but with this line-up... I'll probably have to pass...
I'd like to apologize on the behalf of my fellow film score friends as if I was one of the guests coming to this signing and read these comments I would feel like I'm nothing, worthless. If you aren't interested in this signing that's fine but can you try or at least attempt to say it in a nicer way. These people DO have feelings. They are taking time out of their day to go there and sign and meet folks.
It is always a cool thing when these hard working composers spend some time meeting people who may appreciate their hard work.
The move, TV and game businesses provide very little real recognition for the composers who provide much of the emotion behind the media they are a part of.
Even if you have no interest in their work, some courtesy would not go amiss here, IMHO.
that would be a perfect opportunity to invite John Debney with his excellent Cobbler (getting released tomorrow), 2 volumes of Houdini or Stonehearst Asylum or Brian Reitzell with all his Hannibal CDs. Or Heil/Klimek for I, Frankenstein. Or Cliff Martinez who also has several albums available on LKS (including Drive LP which is JUST getting released). Ditto Chris Beck.
This was a nice opportunity for the 1st decent signing of the year. Sure several of these are probably busy and aren't able to make it for schedule reasons, but still...
For the two guests announced it would be far more appropriate to have the song album instead of the score album of I, Frankestein, since they had nothing to do and none of their music is included on the score album. Song album on the other hand is something I wouldn't touch by a 3-feet pole. And what is the point to have an album signed by someone who had nothing to do with its content?
