Wow. Thrillsville 2015.

I appreciate this is just a teaser trailer but, seriously??? To me this trailer sums up eveything that is wrong with the Bond franchise these days; Pretentious, too serious and just plain dull.

I now have to go and re-watch the excellent teaser for the new M:I movie again to wake me. Tom Cruise clambering about on the outside of an Airbus - for real!!! Nobody does it better!

The one thing of interest to me in that trailer is that Bond's reaction to that old photograph suggests to me that they may not have re-written the screenplay post the Sony leaks, to eliminate a hysterically silly plot twist. I won't say what it is here becasue I don't want to ruin my fun when people find out what it is (and to be honest it is so absolutely stupid that I doubt anyone who hasn't read the leaked screenplay would even believe me).

It looks great. Skyfall was a phenomenal success for the franchise, so it's not surprising that they are continuing with that films general mood.

It's a tough film to beat though. But I have faith in Mendes and co!

Not to mention the first few notes of "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown" popping up!

I'm fascinated by the trailer, with its nod to Fleming's (not Broccoli's) Octopussy, and hope that we're in for a decent story without too many superfluous action scenes thrown in for the hell of it.

I'm not just saying this to be controversial, but genuinely, outside of fan circles, the only person I know who didn't find Skyfall a bit dull is my partner, Tracy. Everyone else, colleagues, non-movie fanatic friends and business contacts, all seem to have been universally underwhelmed by it.

I accept the film was a huge success but I do wonder how much of that is down to hype (after all I can cite a huge number of films that have probably out-performed themselves at the box office just because of hype as Im sure we all can).

I quite liked Skyfall upon first viewing - primarily because I wasn't expecting much, having hated the previous two Craig Bond movies - but I've seen it a couple of times since and I now actually think it is pretty terrible. It is humourless, has a dreadful villain and is so full of stupidity I could write a book about it. The action is ok in places (the chase through the Underground station and the court room shoot out for example) but the climax is just plain dull. The one thing it has going for it is the photography but that's about it.

Now, I know the film is popular with a lot of people here and I respect that but I remain mystified why Skyfail should have done so well at the box office.

Now THAT was funny. Quite literally I have just snorted OJ out of my nose while reading that!

But presumably you would be ok with at least some action sequences?????

As for a decent story.... all I can tell you is, unless they have dramatically re-written the screenplay that was leaked last year, you're going to be disappointed, especially in relation to one specific revelation which, I kid you not, is totally an Eastenders "duf duf" moment (non UK FSMers won't have a clue what I'm talking about here). If they haven't re-written the script to make wholesale changes then I'm going to have a field day come November time!

Skyfall was a license to print money. Whatever the script, it will make a packet.

Because it wasnt just a good Bond film, it was a good film. And it happened to capture the zeitgeist.

I consider Skyfall to be among the best Bond films. And a true continuation of Casino Royale (CR took away some of the formula aspects and Skyfall reinstated them, in an updated fashion)

The script isnt perfect. Silva's plan is far to complicated and unlikely to ever really work for instance, but there are loads of Bond films with unlikely plots which didnt get the bashing Skyfall got.

Those who favor the hijinks of the Moore era might dislike these films, but I could not be happier with the current crop

A pirate version of the original edit of the teaser trailer has just gone online and it contains MAJOR SPOILERS

I expect Eon will pull this very quickly so if you want to see if despite the SPOILER warning then catch it quick.

Ok, last chance..... MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

I'm still waiting for Chris Nolan to roll in and sue them considering 95% of Skyfall is a complete rewrite of his (awful) Batman trilogy.

I wonder if it has a story & scenes that actually make sense, unlike the god-awful Skyfall. But whatever, he's still a charmless Bond. That's my bit of trolling for the day smile

I disagree totally: Skyfall was a poor film and as a JB007 film it was awful ... but that's just my view and I know the film has been ultra-successful so I'm in the (small) minority. I lost interest with the franchise when I saw The Spy Who Loved Me on its summer 1977 release ... but the hugely entertaining Moonraker two years later re-invigorated my interest ...

... after the very weak Die Another Day, Casino Royale was wonderful (despite it numerous faults) only to be followed by a poor second outing by Daniel Craig. For me it's now the JB007 recession ... two consecutive films worse that the preceding one ... that previously happened with Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die before The Man with the Golden Gun stemmed the decline.

Will Spectre stem the decline? I'd like to think so but this teaser trailer does not inspire me and for the first time in 45 years I am not planning on seeing the new release in the cinema.

My wife said the teaser hints at a reveal like that of Luke Skywalker ~ Darth Vader (perhaps nephew rather than son) but it is only a teaser and I hold out that the script won't be that stupid. Then again, after Skyfall's script ...

Moonraker reinvigorated your interest?

To each his own I guess.

I was disappointed in the hijinks of the 1970s Bond films, but I don't blame it on Roger Moore. The star was the just the hired help in those days. But I disapprove of the deconstruction and repudiation of the current Bond films even more, in which Craig evidently takes a creative hand.

I can post the official, revised SPECTRE script right here, if anyone wants to read it?

Those 70's and 80's Bonds were very much tailored to Moore's talents as an actor, such as they are. And he seems to have opposed to the times when they did try to show 007 have more of an edge. (Bond killing Loque in cold blood in FYEO for instance)

It's interesting that the actor who held the role the longest seems to have been the least comfortable with playing a secret agent who is essentially a trained killer and assassin, finding it at odds with his personal beliefs and his public image as a UNICEF ambassador.
