I need to find some interesting movies (documentaries or fictional) about cinema composers, composing for films or smth related to these topics.

Waiting for your suggestions!

Would a TV series count (with some scenes, but not about it or the composer)?

Jack Black played a film composer in The Holiday, and Jason Segel played a TV composer in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

It's an episode of "Hunter" titled Any Second Now.

There's an (awful) episode of the long-running TV series Columbo titled Murder with Too Many Notes featuring a Hollywood composer plot-line - see: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0182919/?ref_=ttep_ep4

Also, in the UK we had a TV series Hammer House of Horror for which the episode Witching Time also featured a TV/film composer ... but here the character's role was not essential to the plot - see: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090328/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_33.

Thanks, but what about movies, not TV series?

I want to organize movie screening evenings for all interested in cinema music and I think to watch TV series would be more complicated than showing a full movie.

I found one movie about Philip Glass, but I need something more.

The three Music for the Movies documentaries — on Herrmann, Takemitsu, and Delerue may be a good place to start. Also, the FSM Basil Poledouris documentary. Also, The Hollywood Sound.

Well, the Columbo is basically a TV movie (even though I agree it's far from the best episode of the show).

There's a fantastic Korngold documentary in addition to several of the others already mentioned:

There is a rather bad graphic giallo movie from Mario Bava's son, Lamberto Bava called "A Blade in the Dark" from 1983 where the lead character is a film music composer. I know quite a few films that have composers or musicians in the lead role, but that one is about the only one I can think of where its an actual film composer.
