James, I'd love a DVD with the full concert EPIC HOLLYWOOD: THE MUSIC OF MIKLOS ROZSA.

You give $25,000 I do a DVD for you because if you film a concert you need to

Pay the Recording Studio at the Dvorak Hall
Hire and pay for a 6 man camera crew
pay the hall a much higher fee for use
pay the Music Hire companies a much higher fee
pay the musicians 3 times there usuall fee as you are filming them in concert
pay for the editing of the video footahe
pay for the editing of the audio tracks and mixing
pay for the DVD / Blu-ray mastering and production
etc....etc......

These things are NOT cheap !!!!

I hope Frank DeWald, who is involved in this release, doesn't mind my reposting something he wrote on the Miklos Rozsa forum. It's titled "Can you help?" and I thought it might be a good idea to cast as wide a net for him as possible by putting it in a more active forum:

"There are six cues in SODOM with sung texts: "The Desert," "Children's Games," "The Prayer," "The Quarry," "Victory March" and "Welcome to Sodom." We have the text for "The Prayer" because it comes directly from the Idelsohn collection. We have some of "The Desert" because it sounds like authentic Hebrew and my "source" was able to understand some of it -- but not all. As for the other three cues, I, for one, am clueless. The melody of "Children's Games" comes from Idelsohn, but the text there is completely different. I have an awful feeling that some cues may involve a made-up "Sodomese" language! In any case, does anyone on this forum recognize any of the texts? (Sadly, there is no text underlay in the composer sketches Leigh Phillips was able to obtain. That would be too easy!) "

Here's the thread on the Rozsa forum:

P.S. I don't have $25,000 James, but if you ever do put out a concert DVD I will buy it!

Don't give us that bulldust, Yavar. We know about those numbered Swiss bank accounts. How's about sharing the wealth?

Hey, if I did have the money I'd be funding complete Rerecordings of Roy Webb scores, starting with Sinbad the Sailor and The Spiral Staircase. Then I'd move on to Night of the Hunter, The Mark of Zorro, The War Lord, and any other lost Rozsa, Herrmann, Bernstein, or Goldsmith scores. Oh, and Williams's Story of a Woman, The Plainsman, and The Rare Breed for my pal Thor! And a complete version of his Jane Eyre, just for me. smile

Oh man, there are so many scores I want re recorded I'd keep James AND the wonderful Tribute gang busy for years!

You can add Roy Webb's Last Days of Pompeii to your list even if he did use a little of Max's King Kong in it. Speaking of Max add The Hanging Tree and Hugo's Hondo and Vera Cruz!

You can also add Hugo's Joan of Arc.

Yes! How'd I forget Joan of Arc! But I'd have Intrada tackle that one, because I know it's Doug's favorite 'lost' score! I still hold out hope that because of that he'll fund it himself one day.

Leigh finished the final reconstructed score today ... only 62 cues!

I suspect that he's talking about SODOM AND GOMORRAH. I also hope that OBSESSION continues to progress toward release.
