It's official... there'll be a new 6 episode limited run of the X-Files. See here: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/36302/it-s-official-the-x-files-is-returning.

The X-files was my favorite show during my teen years and a lot of it still hold up today (up to about season 5, that is). I'm skeptical that this will be any more compelling that the later seasons of the show, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. Here's hoping Mark Snow will be back on board.

Hey MV, how about a soundtrack release? How's X-Files Volume 3 coming anyways?

Chris

I hear ya on those later seasons and hope this new incarnation will go back to the roots of the show (those first seasons especially). I can't see anyone else doing the music for these than Mark Snow. I hope we're in for a treat!

Well on the one hand he scored both X-Files movies so I'd imagine he'd probably want to do the new show as well

But on the other hand he's approaching 70 so who knows

It won't really be The X-Files without Mark Snow. Hopefully LLL releases the third boxset this year to capitalize on this new season (and, fingers crossed, a release of Snow's new music for it, one hopes).

I really hope Snow will be asked and can be persuaded to join. From my perspective, his last foray into the paranormal, I Want to Believe, contained some of his most beautiful writing of all his X-Files music.

Chris.

He's currently scoring that Blue Bloods show, so hopefully that won't interfere. Also hopefully he gets an orchestra at his disposal, considering this is only six episodes.

X-FILES was one of my favourite shows in the 90s too, but I haven't really been that 'into it' after it went off the air. Still, this is exciting news -- I can't wait to see how Anderson and Duchovny will approach the iconic roles 20 years later.

Chris Carter has apparently confirmed Snow's involvement: "The show will count once again on the talents of composer Mark Snow."

I'm surprised other people are surprised Mark Snow is returning?

yes i don't think there was ever any doubt of it. he's the voice of the show and still actively working. just like everyone else he'll make the time in his schedule.
