FRIDAY, MARCH 20

ALIEN---Michael Biehn confirmed he will return as Hicks in Neill Blomkamp's sequel, "It's official. I will be reprising my role as 'Cpl.' (Not for long...) Dwayne Hicks. With the go-ahead, Hicks will return with Ripley in mid 2017. Perhaps Hicks and Ripley well eventually get to second base in this one."

FRAGGLE ROCK---Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirmed he will be the star/co-producer of the movie based on the Jim Hensen/HBO series, “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street,’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock’. They’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

DEADPOOL---Morena Baccarin (HOMELAND, FIREFLY) confirmed she will play Vanessa/Copycat in the movie.

THE BAD BATCH---Jim Carrrey, Keanu Reeves, Jason Momoa and Suki Waterhouse star in this movie about a love affair in a community of cannibals in the Texas wasteland.

TRUE DETECTIVE---Season 2 will have porn stars Amia Miley and Peta Jensen in a "deliriously vast, Eyes Wide Shut-caliber orgy sequence involving dozens of naked bodies", but both women were among the few cast members who kept their clothes on during the orgy scene which was filmed in a Pasadena mansion.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD---George Miller said Mel Gibson was supposed to be in the R-rated sequel, "We were going to do it with Mel and we were within reach of doing it with Mel. Then 9/11 happened and the American dollar fell against the Australian dollar. The budget ballooned. ... By the time we were ready for Fury Road again, Mel had all those troubles. It also definitely got to the stage where it wasn't like Unforgiven, where it plays with an older guy. It was definitely the younger guy, the same guy."

DREDD---writer Alex Garland commented on 100,000 fans singing an online petition supporting a sequel, "It means something that these people support the film in that way, but the thing people want, which is a sequel, I don't think is going to happen...I don't think it's happening with me and the people who made the last one."

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL---untitled Christmas tv special starring Bill Murray, George Clooney, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Miley Cyrus. The plot focuses on Bill Murray as "the notoriously agent- and manager-less actor as he evades the advances of a shark dying to sign him." Sofia Coppola is the director.

CHRONONAUTS---Universal Pictures bought the movie rights to the comic book about the adventures of time-traveling buddies.

PREACHER---Ian Colletti will play Arseface in the AMC series.

SUPERGIRL---Owain Yeoman (EXTANT) will play villain Vartox in the CBS series.

PEANUTS---producer Paul Feig said the 20th Century Fox CGI movie will be faithful to the comic strip, "I'm really happy with it. It's a scary thing to take on, but also Charles M. Schulz's son and grandson and the grandson's writing partner are the writers on it. So we've been guiding it along for quite a while, it's been almost two years now. Steve Martino from Blue Sky is directing it, and he and that team are so religious about wanting to keep it the way-everything we loved about it."

LIVING IN THE AGE OF AIRPLANES---National Geographic documentary narrated by Harrison Ford. It premieres at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum on April 8 and in IMAX theaters on April 10.

VERONA---reimagined movie of Romeo and Juliet from Sony Pictures. Joe Roth (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) is the producer.

LITTLE WOMEN---latest movie underway on the Louisa May Alcott book at Sony Pictures. Sarah Polley is the writer.

RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE---the drag competition series was renewed for Season 8.

I PITY THE TOOL---Mr. T stars in this home renovation reality series.

DREDD - That sucks. I hope it doesn`t hold true: the people responsible for Dredd did everything right. Eliminating them yet following through with a sequel is a mistake.

This means ALIEN3 and 4 were probably hypersleep nightmares Ripley had (to explain Hicks' being alive?) What about Newt?
