I'm about to buy a new auto, and yesterday I took a test drive in a Land Rover.
Wild ride!

"I was drivin' that Land Rover and drinkin' my fill,
Take it easy boys, take it slow;
Fell out on the highway, not a drop did I spill,
All the way to Mexico!

So fare thee well, my Land Rover cried
As we started on that long, lonesome ride,
No hill too tall, no river too wide,
For a cowboy who's drivin' a Land Rover!"

big grin

That's an awesome rhyme Chris.
What a sophisticated clue, classy!

Alex…it's a song from the film (slightly adapted, of course).

Wasnt this the one where - in typical 70s western gritty realism - they had a bedpan full of piss chucked over them as they rode past a window? Or did i dream that?

Do you TYPICALLY dream about bedpans full of piss???

big grin

It's been many years since I watched this one, but I think you're right about that scene.
Oh gosh…now watch me dream about it tonight...

A very Irish title this film has.

Mind you, that poster looks like it should be 'Brokeback Surprise'.

After the film's 18 June 1971 premiere, a 25 June 1971 Daily Variety article stated that the studio would withdraw its original advertising campaign, featuring an image of Ryan O'Neal and William Holden riding a horse, with O'Neal’s arms around Holden. According to the article, the ads had engendered “insider wisecracks” about a possible homosexual relationship between the characters. The original ad would be replaced by images of the stars standing separately, holding guns.

As if holding a hand gun doesn't have double-meaning?

Watched this movie just yesterday on Warner Archive streaming, in HD, though the film still needs restoration. Wanted to see it again more for Bill Holden than anything else. Probably the best raging, unrepentant alcoholic actor there ever was this side of John Barrymore. I really miss him.
