On Facebook maestro Steven Allen Fox inquired if anyone knew Michael Keaton. So I thought I would move the enquiry over to here. And take the big leap that the Danny Elfman BATMAN will also be playing this night.

I wish some nice company would record these and let people on the other side of country listen...even as a download!

Well one of Steven's goals is to be self-sustaining enough to be able to go on tour.

Okay I am not a fan of Superhero music. But, based on practically every GSPO concert I have been to in the last few years, I know Steven has never had me walk away with just mediocre pieces or performances (as I have walked away from many a concert with elsewhere and sometimes in his early days). These days he comes up with surprises and dazzles with the unusual.

So digging into some of these titles here are a few that I think will impress me. I am assuming no one here has to be sold on John William's SUPERMAN, Danny Elfman's BATMAN or Craig Safan's THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

THOR Patrick Doyle

Awesome!

As usual, I'm stoked for this concert, especially since my teenage stepson, himself a budding and talented musician, loves a lot of these movies.

Doing my small part to get the younger generation excited about quality film music! smile

Thanks for the updates, Morricone!

This is a cool video on Lolita Ritmanis's background.

One of the handful of themes I listened to that I AM looking forward to is her JUSTICE LEAGUE theme. Judging by what this little orchestra does I am guessing the GSPO will play the hell out of it.

Wanted to make special mention to someone who I found out is performing Saturday night. Anyone who has gone to a number of GSPO concerts will have encountered Circe Diaz Gamero, a crazily talented cellist from Venezuela. You may not know her by name but she is always positioned out front and the eye immediately gravitates to her. She is the most animated and passionate of the group, and there are quite a few up there who are. I sifted through a lot of GSPO videos but you need quite a wide shot to see her. She gave drummer Dave Lombardo a run for his money on that GHOST RIDER Chris Young performance piece a few years back.

But lo and behold this lady cannot be pushed to the background easily. Here is a music video she worked on and even though the spotlight is on Erick Bolívar and his song "Complete" the director wasn't going to waste the energy Circe brings to the table. Watch this and come to Saturday's concert to see what she brings to the GSPO and what they do:

I was able and honored to attend an early 2.5 hour dress rehearsal Tuesday night. What an awesome group! It was fascinating watching the various conductors stop and restart sequences to get what they want. All is extremely polite and professional. I didn't get to hear everything but there will be both spectacular and lovely moments. And Craig Safan's Last Starfighter suite Totally Rocks!!

I make this plea because I have seen many a great orchestra wither and die through neglect.

THE HENRY MANCINI INSTITUTE

THE SUNDANCE CONCERT SERIES

John Scott's HOLLYWOOD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

This year even the long traditional BIG PICTURE and John Williams at the Bowl has been dropped in favor of an individual movie concert.

So if perhaps you have been putting off seeing the GSPO please push yourself to do it at least once. Then you can tell me it is too expensive, not what you thought, same-o same-o or I should stop annoying you (over all these years no one has, not even here where many are blunt). I say this because if you look the GSPO up above in the FSM search you will see the rich history of over 10 years of presenting all kinds of film music events. AND that even what seemed like uninteresting prospects yielded surprises and very rewarding nights. Steven Allen Fox doesn't want to walk away from an ordinary concert anymore. Give it a try. There are only 2 concerts left and you literally can walk up and get decent seats at the last second. Go.

As my dentist says if you neglect your teeth they will go away. The GSPO needs you and if you neglect it IT will go away, like all those of the past.

And I cannot agree more strongly! Buy a ticket and GO! This is an amazing group of LA based musicians, many of whom perform on the studio recordings. And you can donate...I started a couple of years ago. My one regret is that I stupidly did not discover the GSPO earlier. And.....the Warner Grand is a wonderful old San Pedro theater well suited to the orchestral sound.
