Well Bruce, you can only be referring to your forthcoming 12 disc CD/LP Box Set of the Best Soundtracks of 1988 (cover versions), with some unreleased tracks scattered in for good measure! Damn, who let the cat out of the bag? Did someone cache a test page? Now the cat is running amok. But we all know, I hope, that 1988 was the BEST year for film scores ever, right up there with 1939. So I'm guessing the years you mentioned, 1988 and 1939, might be clews for the next Kritzerland release? Yes, something in between them. Closer to 1939, perhaps ?

The old maid by Max Steiner would be great!!! It´s a fantastic score First of all, does Bruce even have access to the Warner Bros. vault (cause unless I'm mistaken, The Old Maid is a Warner film)? However, I do hope he can access the Warner vaults someday. Secondly, does anything survive for The Old Maid? These two factors make me doubt it's The Old Maid. If we're discussing 1939 scores, the two scores I would like to see if at all possible are Newman's scores for Wuthering Heights and Hunchback of Notre Dame (even though that one is also in Warner's control [actually, come to think of it, I think Wuthering Heights is also in Warner's control since they purchased the Goldwyn library]).

That's exactly what I meant when I said it's not in Kritzerland "territory". Kritzerland "territory" is 20CF and Paramount plus any independent arrangements they make. Hopefully in the future they may get involved with Universal. Forgive me Bruce if I got any of this wrong and forgive me for not letting you explain. My apologies if my post seemed redundant, Cody.

The studios you mention are the ones we normally deal with along with our very long term relationship with MGM/UA - we mined that catalog pretty well. At the time, music stems weren't available to us as they now seem to be for others, but I really don't like them even as a last resort - we've used them only a handful of times and made the best of them, but it's not my thing really.

Except LLL's release of Seconds, Bruce! Those were music stems with dialogue bleed even and I recall you starting a new thread just to gush about it! Yavar

Cody, maybe Bruce and unearthed the music tracks to: The Conqueror, Hondo, Vera Cruz, Joan of Arc, The Hanging Tree, Helen of Troy, Miracle of Our Lady Of Fatima, The High and the Mighty and Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein! NOW THAT WOULD REALLY BE SOMETHING ! Under those circumstances , I would leave the Varese thread alone.

Yavar Yes, there are exceptions for me personally as a listener but not necessarily for me as a label. I think Seconds is one of the five best scores Jerry Goldsmith ever wrote. I would not have chosen to pair it with that other score, which I found dreadful and the antitheses of everything I didn't like about the later Jerry stuff. But Seconds - an amazing and unique piece of work.
