If I had to guess I'd say 2023 -- haven't calculated it.

Well, the podcasts are being done slower than Goldsmith composed the music! So the late 80's is at least 28 years away! Perhaps your children and grandchildren will take up the mantle when the time comes.
Seriously, though, I'm really enjoying them. I've never paid a lot of attention to Goldsmith's really, really early career, so it's been quite enlightening.
Tis the season to unearth the ol' male witchy poo...
Rewatched the film after a couple decades last week & its aging...ok I suppose.
Interesting so many compromises were made on this project for a lesser result! Lori Singer downgrading the (apparently claustrophobic) makeup - as a fellow phobic can't blame her there....but no we are stuck with it forever! The filmmakers redoing a scene too shocking (Mary Woronov's channeler sequence- oh no, a scene too horrific in a horror film....horrors!). And most interesting, Goldsmith removing (IMO) key elements of his mixes due....poor mixing?
So happy Intrada, Redman, Matessino & Botnick restored and addressed this little gem. The new edition literally made me drive over the old one in my car....
I was just listening to this again - for the first time on headphones. Wow, this score is truly dynamic through headphones!
However, I was startled just how bad one particular passage is. It starts at 4:20 into track 6 (The Trance). The strings sound muffled and they crackle quite a bit. The problem continues for most of the rest of the cue. I had noticed a drop in quality previously, while listening on my hi-fi, but through headphones it's really quite awful.
Actually no. It’s a huge improvement over the previous version in terms of sound quality. I’ll check that particular bit when I get off work and let you know.

It's certainly a massive improvement. But the strings at the end of this cue... oomph! (the electronic elements sound fine, its just the track with the strings)
Anyone experience some pretty bad distortion in the strings of "The Trance" starting at 4:25 or so, and continuing until about 5:10?
Not a criticism of the release, just wondering if anyone else hears what I hear
Yes, I noticed too Oddly enough it sounds less distorted if you listen to it on Spotify.
Interesting to go through this old thread and be reminded of the Basic Instinct connections. I've been listening to that one recently (an all-time fave) and I'm starting to connect the dots even more! That's how genius Jerry was, you can listen to two separate scores of his for years and still dig through to find minuscule similarities.
