Be aware, also, that while the FYC has lots of gorgeous music, and many film versions of the cues on the commercial album, the standout cue, "The Reunion", is actually an alternate version on the FYC, oddly. The film version of this cue, possibly my favorite thing Williams has ever written, is the one on the commercial album. It matches the film exactly. Thank you james for all of the information. It is very interesting and I am going to share it with my daughter. She is impressed at the depth of the knowledge shared on this board. As I told her, "cool, huh?"

Thank you james for all of the information. It is very interesting and I am going to share it with my daughter. She is impressed at the depth of the knowledge shared on this board. As I told her, "cool, huh?" Glad to help! The commercial album really has all the highlights, though I do recommend rearranging it in film order, as described in the Amazon link I posted. That said, I love some of the tracks on the FYC, and I'd buy a complete release in a second, to complement the album, which I would never part with

Also, the film had an original song from the band Ministry, which is not included on the soundtrack album. It's called 'What About Us?" and is only available on this album: http://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Fits-Ministry/dp/B00005KKCL It's not just a random rock song, it was specifically written for the Flesh Fair sequence and is an integral part of the film. It's VERY different from the Williams music, obviously, but I included it in my rearranged CD of the album. I find that the abrupt shift just reflects the film's distinctive style. My Amazon notes describe where to place it.

Also would LOVE an EXPANDED edition and while I have no problems with the original album, I think like STAR WARS it is a score that deserves every note represented. I don't think Williams ever topped his score for A.I. personally as some of his most beautiful work ever created.

True, it's an incredible score, neither the soundtrack release nor the promo [which has the tracks in a very odd order] do it justice, such scores like this deserve to be heard in full and in order to appreciate the composer's construction. So much great stuff in this,so much diversity, one minute it's all atonal, one minute it's more minimalist, one minute it's ethereally beautiful, yet it still hangs together superbly. But then I'm one of the few who love the film too, so under-appreciated and to me not especialy slushy either.
