Someone told me that Warner Bros. recently announced on facebook that it's releasing Blu-ray versions of THE THING (the original), THEM! and TIME AFTER TIME. It appears that THEM! might be released this year.
Someone posted a reply to my post about THE THING and THEM! on bluray.com:
"WB recently said on facebook that both of those are likely for release, along with TIME AFTER TIME. One of these titles has just been restored and will be released this year for certain.
UPDATE: It seems the recent TCM screening of THEM! was in native HD and formatted in widescreen unlike any previous broadcasts. So it looks like THEM! might be first out of the gate."
THEM! should look outstanding if not spectacular, as the transfer on DVD is already pretty good. I didn't see it on TCM since they went to true HD. THE THING will be a problem since the original camera negatives were destroyed decades ago. Don't expect anything great there, but it should be the best possible. TIME AFTER TIME will mostly suffer from the limits of that era's color film stock. I'd expect it to be a little soft and grainy, but otherwise acceptable.

TCM screened Time After Time this week in HD. Hopefully we might see a Blu-ray release soon.
It's under consideration for Blu-ray release, but will require a full remaster. The source used for broadcast does not meet the quality standards requisite for Blu. Thanks.
