I'm hearing rumors that a Lost in Space CD set similar to the Star Trek set will be released sometime later this year. The original musical elements were stored along with the original filming elements, and they have found ALL the musical cues and may even be in stereo. I hope this is true, I can finally get the original "Karate chop", "Waking up the Robinson's", "Walk in space" cues just to name a few. Anyone else have any thoughts, or have heard about this?

Everything John Williams wrote for the series has already been released, so I'm content, personally, but I know there's a great deal more out there -- by other composers -- that fans who grew up with the show are salivating over. So I'm sure another, more extensive box is called for and would sell well. But I have no idea if one is forthcoming.

The most recent release (LLL's set) went on deep clearance before it went out of print. A pretty good indicator that the sales weren't there for the set - which means that even less sales would be there for an even bigger/more expensive set which includes a lot of duplicate music from the multiple previous releases. Doesn't mean that it would never happen, but I don't see it as likely.

I'd buy it if it included more Williams music. I'm not familiar enough with the show to know what wasn't available in the previous releases.

It's the missing cues I want. The original releases used that horrible library music in place of some of the missing cues. If they did find all of the original John Williams music as scored for "The Reluctant Stowaway", this will be an awesome addition to my library.

LLL's LiS release was limited to a whopping 5000 copies IIRC...that may be the main reason they had so many left over.

What should be released is all and every original cue that's available from every 20th Century-Fox/Irwin Allen TV show of that era, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, LOST IN SPACE, THE TIME TUNNEL and LAND OF THE GIANTS. Just put it all together in one CD collection. I'll be the first to start holding my breath for it. Expect to die soon.

Definitely a VTHBOTS set! There is some great music from the second season from Alexander Courage I'd love to have. I never did get involved with TT or LOTG.

are these just voices in your head, or can you name names so we can get some kind of confirmation?

The following is me being wrong:YRC, but I was told that they didn't print nearly that many and they still had a lot left over. This ends my wrongness (temporarily).

I do wonder if there's much of an audience left for this. The show does not exactly remain beloved, most of the music has been out in two different sets wrong again ->(the second of which sold poorly)… I don't want to dash anybody's dreams, but I will say if I ran a label, I wouldn't consider it a wise investment. (And who would do such a set? I very much doubt La La Land would go there again.)

There are still some Williams cues missing, but not very many. I'd be happy with some of the other cues that were used in Herman Stein's "There Were Giants in the Earth." We had only one cue from that. Some other second and third season stuff would be great also,

However, I would be MENTAL over a Voyage release! So many amazing scores from that series. I remember reading here (from MV I think???) that a box set was being worked out as far as rights. That was a few years ago and nothing since. Every year, I hope for news....

Really? All the episodes he scored have been released, in addition to the theme(s). Maybe there are individual cues within said episodes that are still unreleased, I don't know.

No, there are a ton of cues missing from "Reluctant Stowaway", most of the RS score was supplemented with library music on the previous releases. These cues may have been recorded during the second season (or 3rd season) conducted by Lionel Newman using Williams' sheet music. I'm counting at least 15 new cues that were scored for RS in addition to what has already been released. That would be enough to fill up at least half a CD. What is original is "Escape Velocity", "Robot Power", and "Meteor Storm", everything else is just stock music. The tempo is slow and sluggish, and just sounds horrible IMHO.

If there is a new LiS set coming out, it may be to tie in with the re-release of the show itself on Blu-ray, which cast member Bill Mumy has confirmed is happening. According to him it's due in September: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Lost-Space-Blu-rays-Planned/20674

You'll have to be a member of the group to read the messages. Scroll down to "LIS coming on Blu-ray" dated towards the end of January. One of the guys quoted Kevin Burns.
