It's possibly worth pointing out that the first Anderson film not to be scored by Mothersbaugh was THE DARJEELING LIMITED (2007), which didn't have a conventional score but was instead tracked with music from various Merchant Ivory, Satyajit Ray and other Indian films. Desplat first worked with Anderson on FANTASTIC MR. FOX in 2009. I've often wondered if there was some specific reason for the split with Mothersbaugh or if it was just one of those things, though Mothersbaugh did provide some source music for the otherwise-scored-by-Desplat MOONRISE KINGDOM (2012).
