Updates in last post...

I believe Pluto should be reclassified a planet again and I would have to consider Ceres. An object I bet 99.9% percent of the population doesn't even know exists in our solar system. (Not to mention whats beyond Pluto) I think there's a bias in the scientific community whom are reluctant to adding planets.

I've heard a count as high as eleven before.

For those that don't know about Ceres...

And there's at least one "Dwarf Planet" beyond Pluto which is bigger than our former 9th planet.

Apparently, in the 23rd Century Pluto is a planet again.

Neither Pluto nor Ceres care what humans classify them as.

Perhaps a new thread was needed rather than changing the title of this one, rendering the first posts off-topic.

I thought ppl would get upset if I posted multiple science threads so I would just have one "Science" thread and update it. Then again maybe nobody reads this stuff anyway!

I'm glad to see the Science thread myself. Either way you do it I'm glad to see these here.

I guess I'm sold on ion drives. Two very controlled visitations from one platform is nothing to be ashamed of. It doesn't say how much delta-v the propulsion system is capable of, ie. what the maximum fuel allowance actually is? I get that the drive delivers a little push for longer 'burn' durations. What is the reliability of an ion drive - have any missions been scuppered due to propulsion failures?

I didn't realise so many propulsion systems are possible:

Here is some "nice to know" info:
