From Roger:

Interesting pair of releases here -- I've wanted to do these two together for years, as they have an interesting thematic relationship (not musical, but narrative). Both from the 70s, one early, one late. Originally I had thought they'd be paired on the same CD due to length, but happily they ended up each being long enough to get their own discs. But they still had to be released together!

I know! I know!

You did the notes for both. You sly boots.

Damned if I know what the titles are.

My dream was Jaws/Jaws 2, but there's no way they would have expected to fit both on one disc. Alas!

Well I hope Charley Varrick or The Eiger Sanction are the early seventies contender.

From the 1970's? How about Herrmann's OBSESSION? After all, it's Roger F.'s favorite score, right?

hmm... that's a very good guess...
WHile there was quite a lot of music in THE CAR, there wasn't so much score in DUEL... perhaps most of it remained unused... but eiher way... especially THE CAR would be fantastic!

Looks like that 90's 2disc set got pushed back.

Call him Goldenberg and you have a great pair of scores. Nice guess!
And look at my avatar. smile

What's the thermatic relationship between that Rosenman and Goldenberg? I can't hear it. And "Duel" isn't long enough to even fill half a CD.

I think you misread Roger's clue. Roger clearly said:

they have an interesting thematic relationship (not musical, but narrative).

The narrative relationship for both Duel and The Car being, of course, the protagonists being chased by an unstoppable automobile.

I did, but that still doesn't make them similar in narrative. "Duel"' was about some kind of crazy trucker in a truck that certain could be stopped. And he was after one person.

"The Car" was about a possessed car with no driver that was implied couldn't be stopped, but in reality the car wasn't up against much where it was hunting. And the car was after pretty much anybody.

About the only thing they share is a vehicle and human beings.

It's like saying "The Omen" and "Poltergeist" have a similar narrative because they have evil forces at work.

Speaking of Goldenberg, I'd be very happy with RED SKY AT MORNING.

You still sure about that?

Roger says:

Interestingly I must not have been the only one to notice the synergy between these films. They were recently shown as a double bill in LA a few weeks back.
