I, too, would like to know those details.

Jim, we went into this question in a thread a year ago in which you noted that:

"The DVD is also in stereo. Harryhausen stated somewhere that a tiny amount of stereo prints were struck for the premiere engagements of the film."

I added that:

"According to the review of the DVD by DVD SAVANT:

'In Germany, First Men IN the Moon was blown up to 70mm and marketed as a one-film Cinerama attraction, in stereophonic sound. . . . For the first time [on video], First Men IN the Moon is also in stereophonic sound, thanks to a 4 track Mag element secured at Columbia a few years back - the stereo mix engineered for West Germany's Cinerama release was remixed with the English dialogue stem.'

The Cloud Nine Records mono soundtrack CD was issued in 1995, prior to this more recent discovery. It's not clear what this "4 track Mag element" was: music, or music & effects. If it's the latter, Twilight Time might just decide to go with an isolated mono music track.

To Bob Di Mucci:

Yes, on the old DVD, the composite film mix was in stereo, but there was no isolated score track. Now there IS an isolated music track on the Blu-ray. IS IT STEREO? That is the question people are asking.

I hope there will there be a new CD at some point. The Cloud Nine is okay but shrill.

I LOVE this film! I love the look of it and what it could have been! (Be honest, the character Martha Hyer plays is pointless and annoying and all that macho bravura bullshit all but ruins what is more interesting in the film; that of the celenites and their wonderous underground city). I love the music. Stereo would be incredible!!! Hope so! smile

Has anyone addressed this question to Nick Redman on the Facebook Twilight Time page?

They just responded:

"It's all the music in the film, although a few cues have effects."

How much score does this 103 min. film have?
