Sarge recently watched this well crafted little thriller, which is set in 1989 - and was surprised to hear a score that could have been composed in 1989.

Fans of John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream might enjoy this retro-score. Here are a few samples.

Yes, the score in the movie did remind me of a Carpenter or Tangerine Dream score. At times, it seemed effective. At other times, the consistent repetition of certain notes shoveled too much into my brain and called too much attention to itself pulling me from the movie.

This movie has many flaws, but it also has some shocking twists and turns that I never predicted.

Wow, this sounded brilliant. That last track is not a score track though.

I saw the film. I really got this At Close Range-vibe when seeing it, both from the film (the sound of those crickets in the night...) and the score. Some parts of the score also reminded me of Near Dark.

How I love this retro-wave!
