I just find this piece of music STUNNING!
My first exposure to it was hearing it played live in London by Chris Parkening under the baton of Elmer himself.
It was an unbelievable experience and it was one of those instances where you know right away that you love what you're hearing. Love at first lobe wink
I quickly ordered the CD and have played it and played it ever since, always loving each and every experience of it.
It popped up today on my mp3 player and once again, it's beauty and excitement invigorated me.
Please share your love for this music here or if you haven't heard it...make it so number 1 smile

I agree with you; it is stunning. I just wish Elmer had written more classical stuff.

I love it, especially the third movement -- which BTW has been a favorite of classical radio stations ever since the CD was released.

Don't forget the CD also has a piece by Jack Marshall, who obviously isn't so well known....but he did write the theme to The Munsters after all.

For anyone who doubts it's utter brilliance!

I too wish Elmer had written more concert pieces, but I also wish more of the few he did write would be recorded and played. Lest we forget, he was a concert pianist and composer for a number of years before he "went Hollywood." But right now, all we've got is the Guitar Concerto and, (possibly qualifying) "Toccata for Toy Trains."

Jim Svejda, the dean of DJs at KUSC FM, is a big booster of the entire Concerto, and, if memory serves, has occasionally opined on the air that he considers it second only to the Rodrigo.

I freaking LOVE this piece...*maybe* even more than the Rodrigo concerto. I'm going to take your youtube link and post it over in the Yellowstone thread because Jett needs to hear it. I kept meaning to make him a copy but never got around to it.
