MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23
INDIANA JONES---reportedly, Steven Spielberg is interested in directing the reboot movie if the script meets with his approval. Chris Pratt is reportedly in talks to replace Harrison Ford.
Spielberg also is interested in directing THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, the movie based on the book about veterans coping with PTSD after returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The script is by Jason Hall (AMERICAN SNIPER).
STAR WARS---Taron Egerton is reportedly a candidate to play Han Solo in the spinoff movie which tells how Solo became entangled with Jabba the Hut and how he orginally acquired the Millennium Falcon.
RAZZIE AWARDS---among the winners of the 35th Annual Razzie Awards were:
Worst Picture--SAVING CHRISTMAS
Worst Actor--Kirk Cameron (SAVING CHRISTMAS)
Worst Actress--Cameron Diaz (THE OTHER WOMAN, SEX TAPE)
Worst Director--Michael Bay (TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION)
Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel--ANNIE
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---Haley Bennett (THE EQUALIZER) will play the lead female role in the remake of the 1960 John Sturges Western. Bennett will play a widow who hires gunmen to avenge her husband's murder by a ruthless mining baron and his gunslingers in a small gold mining town. Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt star.
EDWARD SNOWDEN---Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson and Rhys Ifans have joined the cast of the untitled Oliver Stone movie on NSA leaker Edward Snowden. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Timothy Olyphant and Melissa Leo also star.
DAREDEVIL---an Australian magazine featured the upcoming Netflix superhero which premieres on April 10.
SUPERGIRL---Laura Benanti (NASHVILLE) will play Supergirl's mother, Alura Zor-El, in the CBS series.
KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES---Gal Gadot (FAST FIVE) is in talks to co-star with Jon Hamm in this 20th Century Fox comedy movie about a suburban couple who discover their new neighbors are really undercover agents.
SUPER ELITE---Sony Pictures movie underway based on the second novel in the trilogy in which ex-Special Forces operatives seek to stop Chechen terrorists from smuggling a nuclear weapon across the Mexico/US border. Jaume Collet-Sera (NON-STOP) is the director.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK---Jason Biggs (AMERICAN PIE) won't return in Season 3 because his character won't appear. Biggs may return in the future.
WAKE---Piper Perabo (COVERT AFFAIRS) will co-star with Bruce Willis and Ben Kingsley in this movie about a sociopath who returns for a family funeral and is forced to defend the family that exiled him.
OFFICER DOWNE---Kim Coates (SONS OF ANARCHY, BLACK HAWK DOWN) will star in this movie based on the graphic novel in which a supercop is murdered and then resurrected to continue fighting crime.
WOLVERINE---Hugh Jackman said about his future as Wolverine, "I said to my wife, 'The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.' I know that someday they'll recast the role with another actor…I'd be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."
