SOAPDISH
Music Composed and Conducted by Alan Silvestri
Expanded Limited Edition of 1000 units

Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures present the expanded release of Alan Silvestri’s (Critical Condition, Forrest Gump, The Mummy Returns) original score to Soapdish, a 1991 hilarious comedy about the backstage “drama” on a TV soap opera. The film stars Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey Jr., Elisabeth Shue and Whoopi Goldberg; it was directed by Michael Hoffman.

Alan Silvestri’s fully orchestral work provides one of his most elaborate and memorable comedy scores. It gives a fresh, dynamic sound to the film, dominated by Caribbean rhythms – including a beautiful love theme, some action music, ironic suspense cues and fanfares for TV awards.

Soapdish was originally released by Varese Sarabande in 1991, but our edition is about double the length of that previous album. It includes everything Silvestri composed and recorded for the film, presented in film order and fully remastered from the original recording sources provided by Paramount Pictures. The package includes a 12-page full-color booklet with liner notes by Andy Dursin.

Love this one too - nice pair Quartet, good show! I was taken aback when I first heard this,
expecting Silvestri of the Ricochet era, but it really great on me.

I'm in, thanks guys :-)

This is a surprise, but a pleasant one. I love the original Varèse version, it's so bubbly and fun. Definitely going to pick this one up.

I love Alan Silvestri and will be buying this release, and am excited for it - but I'm sorry, THE LAST STARFIGHTER is the specialty label release of the year so far. In my opinion.

Some of the material would be repraised in the 1998 film "Holy Man", which has a wonderful soft theme for piano, strings and some woodwinds. I consider it one of his best scores. To this day there has been no official release.

In the light of previous Silvestri's comedies releases -- CLEAN SLATE or THE PEREZ FAMILY from MusicBox -- something very fun this way comes! wink Many thanks!
BTW : TERMS OF ENDEARMENT is still showing "Temporarily Out of Stock". I've planned to buy a second copy for a birthday. Will it show "In Stock" again by mid-March?

This stylish, Latin-flavored score is a wonderful release for Silvestri fans! I might add that the subject matter makes it a great double-feature with Quartet's earlier release of Eidelman's DELIRIOUS, currently on sale at their website.

By the way, STAR TREK fans who are not familiar with this score may recognize "Makeover Mambo"... smile

Technically you need to buy this to make STAR TREK: INSURRECTION is complete.
