Yes. Definitely very odd. A more gorgeous and heartbreaking score would be harder to find without the name Elmer Bernstein attached to it. For me it's Marvin Hamlisch's best score.
Oh cool - I was wondering too - and I liked it - and even better I HAVE that cd and have enjoyed it in the past....so, time for a replay I reckon :-/ And time to sell some of this bloody music off....
I can NOT LISTEN TO THIS SCORE. It is perhaps the SADDEST music ever written(Entire score, that is... there are plenty of pieces from films that are just as sad, if not sadder, but an ENTIRE SCORE? Sheesh!). And the version that Hamlisch performed WAAAAAY back on Previn and the Pittsburgh was the SADDEST version of this piece....PERIOD.
