Listening to Dad today. This is my first score CD ever. And its the one that made me a lifelong Horner fan. Tracks 9 and 10, The Greenhouse and Goodbyes, are nothing short of outstanding if you like music that touches your heart.

I consider Searching for Bobby Fischer to be a "cousin" to this score.

Thoughts?

Please go here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TaztwezPGI and identify at what mark the cues you've cited are playing (if applicable).

One of my all time favorites. Searching For Bobby Fischer is on the same level!

Thank you, barryfan. I like to take 'challenges' of this kind. But I must confess that when I see "Horner" and "'cousin' to this score" the inner wiseguy is ready to go outer. Long history. Anyway, I was more curious since the title of this film in conjunction with its composer instantly transports me back to the "Dad" segments of Field Of Dreams, which I've appraised and praised here extensively. Those 2 cues you have cited are wonderfully evocative of a pastoral setting. Soothing and sublime, you know what I mean?. It compares well to D. Newman's Paradise in this vein, for example. And the ending is reminiscent in feel to the ending of FOD, for sure, if not a bit aurally as well. Can almost see what must have been a closing pull-back shot. I know not of the film Dad but am now interested in seeing the images that accompany the soundtrack.

Good score, not the best of Horner themes but warm and listenable as always.

Saw the movie a few months ago and it was pretty damn good! Definitely got me a few times. Horner's score in the movie, however, felt oddly inappropriate at times.

Excellent Horner score, as most of his are!

Quite beautiful, touching and fun.
