THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---spoiler alert (see below).

ALIEN---Neill Blomkamp (DISTRICT 9) posted that he's directing the sequel to the original Alien franchise and included a photo of Alien with the caption, "Um... So I think it's officially my next film. #alien."
Blomkamp's sequel is set several years after the sequel to PROMETHEUS, but his sequel is not directly connected to PROMETHEUS. 20th Century Fox confirmed the sequel with Ridley Scott being the producer for both sequels.

DEADPOOL---Morena Baccarin (HOMELAND, GOTHAM) will play the female lead and love interest for Ryan Reynolds in the spinoff movie.

SHAFT---reboot movie underway based on the 1971 movie that starred Richard Roundtree. CBS had a short-lived tv series that also starred Roundtree in 1973. Roundtree and Samuel L. Jackson starred in a 2000 spinoff movie.

BOUNTY---Will Smith stars in this movie about a man who is imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit. After he escapes to prove his innocence, he discovers the victim's widow has a $10 million bounty on him.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE---Norm Macdonald said Eddie Murphy declined to appear as Bill Cosby in a 40th anniversary skit written by McDonald, “He knew the laughs would bring the house down...the laughs are not worth it. He will not kick a man when he is down.” McDonald also said Murphy refused to return to SNL for over 30 years after David Spade said about Murphy in a skit, “Look children, a falling star." Mcdonald added, “David is a very kind man, but his remark was not.”

GHOSTBUSTERS---Cecily Strong (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE) reportedly has joined the all-female reboot movie as, "one of the biggest non-Ghostbuster parts aside from the villain...She's an authority figure who liaises with our heroines, privately backing their activities and acknowledging their legitimacy, but publicly denouncing the group to the media in order to avoid panic amongst the wider populous."

DOCTOR WHO---the BBC announced that Michelle Gomez will return as Missy in the new season's premiere. Gomez said, “Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!” Also, Jemma Redgrave will return as a guest star in the new season.

MADOFF---Richard Dreyfuss will star in this ABC series about stockbroker Bernie Madoff who was sentenced to prison for 150 years after being convicted of running an enormous Ponzi scheme.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---a "most trusted source" said Han Solo will be killed off by Kylo Ren at The Evil Castle with Chewbacca, Finn, Rey and BB-8 present. "Chewbacca lets out of a barrage of angry roars and laser blasts" as Kylo then flees. As invading Stormtroopers approach, Chewbacca and BB-8 escape in the Millenium Falcon. Finn and Rey also escape from the Stormtroopers.

MUTANT:

That's the photo Blomkamp posted...his caption is under the photo. Apparently it's not new and I assumed it was.

I can't believe they are letting Norm MacDonald back on.

He's one of my favorite comedians and one of my top favorite SNL people, especially his "Fake News" segments.

But on those segments he made fun of some people, and one of those was O.J. Simpson. A now retired NBC executive who was on his way out when the hammer fell, was friends with O.J. (according to Norm in some passed interviews). So Norm was getting fired and he was called into this executive's office (Don Ohlmeyer) and Don -- as Norm said -- basically gave a bunch of odd sports related analogies as to why he was being let go, rather than come clean.

The official verdict was he was not funny, even though it was episode-to-episode him that got the biggest and continuous laughs.

So a couple years after that, SNL invited him back to host the show (since he had done a movie). And this is why I don't understand why they are having him back; it's hilarious, but after you hear it, you'd be left scratching your head, too:

Norm is one of my favorite comedians - he had a great sports comedy show on Comedy Central for a few months, his recent stand-up special is hilarious

Also strongly recommend: his bit from the Comedy Central Roast of Bob Sagat, and if you look on Youtube you should be able to find a video of him doing hilariously don't-care red carpet commentary/interviews for some awards show
