Yes, I have both. I'm still working through them but I've generally liked what I've heard. The presentation is excellent and the quantity and quality of music is first class ... provided you don't mind a sound which is not modern. I have many recordings by other artists of many of these works and I accept that the sound won't be same as, say, a recording from the 1980s or later. There are many pieces of work which are new to me and I find the mixture of artists / composers compelling. That said, I think Vol.2 is a step-down: firstly, many of the discs in Vol.1 carry two albums, or at least, extra tracks from a second album taking the CD playing times to 70mins or more. This is not so in Vol.2. And, secondly, there is a greater emphasis on opera in Vol.2 and whilst I'm happy to add these to my collection they will get far less air-time than the orchestral albums. Of interest to me, in particular, are works which are not so readily available in modern recordings ... perhaps such works have fallen out of fashion. I've bought quite a few box sets these last two years. These two are not my favourites but I have no regrets about buying them. Mitch

I have bought so many of these on CD over the years that the boxed sets would be a waste of money for me, I'm afraid. I hope those who are discovering them appreciate the extraordinary recordings/performancs.
