Great news about this early Sarde score. And finally someone is looking after those Sarde titles in the old CAM catalogue (now owned by Gruppo Sugar) which have not been released on CD before. I hope that for example DEUX HOMMES DANS LA VILLE therefore will also be not too far away. HELLÉ is a wonderful lyrical and pastoral Sarde score of which 3 tracks had been available on a formerly quite rare Barclay EP in 1972. Maybe some collectors will recognize the lovely main theme which Sarde had originally composed for HELLÉ. He later reused it for Bertrand Blier's BEAU-PÈRE in 1981 where it appears in a jazzier solo piano version. But more or less it is the same main theme for both scores.
Do you know his music for the Canadian movie LES CORPS CÉLESTES from 1973 of which some tracks were formerly available on this CAM CML library LP "Love Themes" (CAM CML 116)? http://www.discogs.com/Various-Love-Themes/release/3985998
This was his first reuse of the theme from HELLÉ in a different arrangement, and BEAU-PÈRE later on was already the second, but much more famous one. Of course, LES CORPS CÉLESTES is also available in the CAM/Pema catalogue from Sugar and DCM could have coupled it with HELLÉ on this CD because HELLÉ has a duration of just 35 minutes - but maybe Sarde himself didn't want to or it is already in the works for a future, separate CD release?
Very nice looking forward to hearing this title in full love those vocal tracks. The cost of ordering direct is very attractive I'm sorry I missed picking up Danton when it was available.
Not only was it inexpensive to order directly from Disques Cinemusique including shipping, the shipping was very fast! Already received mine today in The Netherlands. Very nice score. Well done DC. Pleased with this. I hope more Sarde scores will be released, I love them.
