From the TANGERINE DREAM Facebook page: TANGERINE DREAM 6 mins · Dear Friends, This is a message to you we are very sorry for… On January 20th, Tuesday afternoon, Edgar Froese suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from the effects of a pulmonary embolism in Vienna. The sadness in our hearts is immensely. Edgar once said: “There is no death, there is just a change of our cosmic address." Edgar, this is a little comfort to us. Yours, TANGERINE DREAM TEAM

Terrible news. His music has brought me so much enjoyment over the years. I hope he wasn't in too much pain. Pulmonary embolism sounds like nasty business.

This is very sad news indeed. He was an incredible artist, a pioneer in music and a very kind man to work with. MV

A total shock. My number 1 musical hero. Ever. His music lives on. Forever.

I only cottoned on to Tangerine Dream when I was in my 30s but I've enjoyed their music ever since. RIP. For anyone interested, Dream Sequence is a very good 'Best Of' album with their best music from the late 70s/80s. Listening to it now. Going over to my CD shelves just a while ago, Dream Sequence was the first thing I grabbed, that, and then the Tangents box. Ripped those, and a few other tracks, Diamond Diary, Crystal Voice etc, to my MP3 player. Edgar, and TD will be missed. But, what a tremendous legacy.
