Another possible reason they dropped the second disc is that the original album has more recently been included in the Herrmann Phase4 box set. Maybe Music Box no longer has the permissions to re-release it?
I hope this 'reissue without the album version' is the start of a new trend.
But only 350? For a Herrmann score? Big yikes...
Why yikes? It's like third reissue plus everyone also has (or should have) the Tadlow re-recording.
I think the yikes is for the extremely limited quantity of this reissue (I think it might be even lower than that of the standalone reissue of Journey to the Center of the Earth which sold out almost instantly years ago). Honestly, I’m torn on whether I want to buy this or not as I’m quite happy with the Tadlow recording.
Well, there is THOUSANDS of copies that were released of previous 2CD version. I suppose nobody is that crazy to buy the reissue if they already have one of the previous 2CD... so 350 seems more than enough but we'll see how long they will last.
This is great news for anyone who might have missed the earlier releases. I also like the Tadlow rerecording, but the Herrmann original is my favorite score of all time.
I have the Phase 4 CD of the Album. Any noticeable sonic differences with the second disc from the 2CD edition? Also does this new reissue come with the slipcase?
