You may also enjoy these short videos that reveal a bit of Kamen's personality and show perhaps why he was/is so beloved by many. I came across them through this site in one of the older Kamen threads and this seems the perfect opportunity to repost them.

Kamen wrote what is my opinion The Greatest Action Cue Ever in a movie:
Hollywood Blvd Chase from Lethal Weapon. It's also know as We're Leaving on the 2013 La La Land Boxset (not sure why the title was changed). It's 4 minutes and 14 seconds of speed, anxiety and adrenaline.
I have taken a few of the vast suggestions and already purchased a copy of Michael Kamen's Opus. What an amazing and valuable compilation. I have the full versions of a few of the scores but intend to expand.
What comes through this sampling to me is the pure beauty and joy of Michael Kamen's work. Some of this is achingly beautiful. That can be said of several composers but I find his work and that of Delerue to be intensely beautiful, joyful and so rich.

Fantastic! You've inspired me to dig this album out later and give it a new listen.
- And my personal favorite is his Guitar Concerto. There's a Japanese CD of the Hotei studio recording. And there's a live recording of the original Eric Clapton recording, but it's not an official release.
Thanks for that. I'd never heard it before. It's fantastic! Someone really should release the Clapton performance and since the Hotei was only released in Japan, they could put that on the disc as well while they're at it. This music really deserves that much at the least.
Okay, this will be my fist time uttering the term "cue" in a question I have posted. If I use it incorrectly, please shame me but do it kindly. I do not profess to be fluent in the language of music.
As I listened to Kamen's Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves today, I was struck by the similarity to the cues from Band of Brothers. Am I hearing correctly? I love both scores and actually love hearing it but just need confirmation that I heard correctly.
Also one that hasn't been mentioned here yet (I think) is EVENT HORIZON. A truly disturbing horror score with creepy sounds and a unique blend of orchestra and electronic music. Credit goes to Orbital for the latter but it's the extremely original creation of the soundscape that makes this score a one-of-a-kind: Kamen let the orchestra improvise 30 minutes or so of scifi-horror music which the guys from Orbital then took home to create their samples with. A genius approach! I've never heard anything like it before or after... Too bad you hear almost nothing of it in the movie and a shame that only a glimpse of the orchestral score made it on the CD.
Well, a very kind person sent a copy of Kamen's "Concerto for Saxophone" to me. My husband and I sat down this morning and listened to the entire the cd on the "big boy stereo" and all I can say is WOW! It is truly a masterpiece indeed. My husband echoed the same sentiment. Without reading the insert, my husband was able to pick out the places where David Gilmour and Eric Clapton played and that drew him in even further. David Sanborn, need I say more? We were said to see it end and hit replay.
101 Dalmatians (live action) is a wonderful score.
This just popped up on my ipod today, and I had almost forgotten it - yes, wonderful playful piece, I avoided it for years since....well its 101 Dalmatians. But I was happily surprised - some real orchestral acrobatics in play here, you can tell the composer & orchestra had a blast. And I dare you to forget the main theme! ;-) Even better, the cd can probably be had for mere cents these days, I believe.

I picked up a used copy of this release at a record store this weekend. Wow, what a gem of a little score. Just over an hour of amazing Kamen music! Well worth a listen if you love Michael Kamen.
