No, that is not music by James Horner.
What makes you think it is?

I'm searching for that panflute theme's ID since 5 years. I didn't find it.
I've seen James Horner's panflut musics. James Horner has made a lat of film music. Not his all soundtracks to be viewed. Therefore I asked this music to James Horner fun friend.

This pan flute music is must be 1984 or before, German or French movie music.

Looks like a bad movie. And probably one that doesn't have a lot of score in it. I wonder if this will even get a score CD.

When I saw this thread had been updated, I assumed it was to say that Horner had left the project. Doesn't seem like his kind of thing at all and he doesn't seem to fit in with the director's previous musical "taste". (Hope he sticks around though!)

Raging Bull is better, but then again it's the best.
The score in this one will probably be just bäkround ünderscore, as in, just cues you won't even notice while watching the movie. A movie this is, as opposed to "film", which, for instance, Raging Bull is.
A job like this should have been left to composers like Jack Johnson or John Jackson (fake names), you know, the guys starting up. For James Horner I wish projects of big drama with score only and no songs and no fast editing. Just let the visuals work with the composed music.
But I'm narrow-minded.

If James Horner took this project it's because he saw something in it. That will be reflected in the music, I'm sure. From an interview with Horner: "it's just a movie I've never done before. I thought it would be really challenging again. It'll be really edgy, but it will be very simple. No big orchestras."

You are jumping to so many fatalistic conclusions here.

I think the film looks like it might be decent.
I think Jake G is one of the most exciting actors working today.
It's just a pity the trailer contains so many spoilers!! (I'm well pissed that a major event has been ruined already).
If Horner stays the course on this film, he might deliver something outside his comfort zone.
Don't forget, this is the guy who gave us 48 Hrs, Where The River Runs Black, Red Heat and the bonkers sound of his unused Streets Of Fire!

I really hate this trailer for adhering to the worst in modern trailer traits (namely it being a three-act trailer), but I'll stay around for the film because I love boxing dramas and this one looks a little pulpier than, say, Raging Bull (the Golden Standard for the genre). I'm dying for someone to tackle an even pulpier take on seedy boxing tales, along the lines of Stanley Kubrick's Killer's Kiss; but this one from Fuqua (a solid B-movie filmmaker) will do fine. And Horner is along? Sign me up! I imagine this one will be a smaller, intimate score from him: maybe like a darker Chumscrubber.

Nice, evocative cover. Can't wait to hear Horner's work here, and I hope the movie is a fine boxing drama.
