I remember back about 20 years ago I was looking around in a record store and picked up a cd of Pink Floyd The Wall the movie soundtrack. It might have been a bootleg or a different cover I was looking at but it did have "When the Tigers Broke Free" which was in the movie but not on the actual album itself. My question, was there an actual movie soundtrack or was I looking at a bootleg? If this was the real soundtrack, I really wish they would release it. I love the recorded version of Mother in the movie and the other different recordings.

When the single version of "When The Tigers Broke Free" was released, it came packaged in a very attractive gatefold picture sleeve and included a blurb stating that it was "Music From The Film".

I do not think "Tigers" was ever released as a 12" single--only a 7", so I cannot be sure if it was a 12" you saw or not--which could certainly be mistaken for a full album. But I can say for certain that no full OST was ever an official product, nor was the alternative idea for the soundtrack versions of the songs to be put out under the title "Spare Bricks".

Thank you for this information. I know alot of people that prefer the recordings from the movie over the album. I wonder if they know that this could be a huge sell if they did officially release the OST?

I, too, would love to have the movie versions done up nicely in an official release.
Sure, I could run the DVD on the desktop and have Audacity run an audio capture, but it's somehow just not the same as a real, honest-to-goodness edition, if that makes any sense.

First-world problems, I guess! big grin
