I think there are many wonderful songs in "Into the Woods," including the heartbreaking "Stay With Me" and "No More" (the latter cut for the film). I'm not sure how you can describe Sondheim's style as "talkie talkie sing," but maybe you mean that his songs are not show-stopper driven and very closely integrated into the narrative of the tale. That is to say, the songs aren't an interruption of the story, but an integral part of driving that story. I think it's a great show. The triumph that "Sweeney Todd" is? No, probably not. But few evenings of musical theater achieve that. And aside from the five-syllable title, I don't see very much similarity between "Not While I'm Around" and "No One Is Alone." For that matter, another terrific "Woods" song is "Children Will Listen," also five syllables, but nothing like the other two.

I like the title song very much, and can't think offhand of any song like it in SWEENEY TODD.
