Demi was starving when he speared the doe in the wood, so he cooked her and afterwards was so gladiator.

This movie has one of my favorite lines of all time:
When Hayward sends Mature back to the arena, after he denounces her, spurning her advances, she puts her arms on his shoulders, looks him in the eye, and intones:

"When the truth is ugly, only a lie can be beautiful."

And, great trouper that she always was, Hayward pulls it off.

But, a classic, unintentionally funny line nevertheless.

Fox was so confident that THE ROBE would be a hit that they pretty much completed the shooting on this film before THE ROBE even premiered.

From back in the days when they still made Mature epics.

Jay Robinson's Caligula is so well done you hate the guy by the end of the film.

Badly in need of a film restoration. The HD transfer on the Twilight Time Blu-ray gets an empirical thumbs down.
