Why don't you just break them up and sell the discs individually? That way I can get "Tocatta for Toy Trains" without having to spend a hundred dollars and end up with 11 CDs I don't want or need. Thank you for your consideration.

... Why are you asking a store to break down product they only sell and distribute?

Why don't you just break them up and sell the discs individually?

Because each disc does not have its own case. The 12 discs are in three 4CD clamshell cases, and all of the documentation is one hardcover book that accompanies the three cases.

The Toccata can be purchased on its own for $4 at SAE:

Lukas Kendall explains in the description that they can not sell the scores as individual cds.

The individual discs have also been available digitally for years:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/elmer-bernstein-miracle-toccata/id491624873

but the box is an absolute steal at this price.

I'm very surprised this set didn't sell out long ago.

Just when most people are already sucked dry until the end of the year, and probably into the first quarter of next year. We really do need Xmas in July!

Bought this at full price years ago and it was worth every penny. What a great bargain at half price.

I gotta admit even though I've been enjoying mine for years now, I'm still a bit jealous of the people who are able to get this monstrosity for under $100! Damn!

That's $8.33 PER DISC!

That's $7.14 PER ORIGINAL ALBUM (because four of the LP programs fit on two of the CDs)!

And that's only if you count the magnificent hardbound book for FREE!

FSM has offered some fine deals in their day, but I think this might take the cake as their best deal ever.

Just a word about the content: Torn Curtain, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, and Bernstein's final re-recording, Kings of the Sun, are the highlights for me in this set. But even many of the things that aren't *perfect* are still really good and in some cases the best available music from a score, ie. Thief of Bagdad. I really hope that gets a complete re-recording using the original orchestrations some day, but until then the Bernstein album is really, really good...aside from an awful singer for "I Want to Be a Sailor" but since I hate the song anyway* it's no great loss cuz I just program it out!

Yavar

*seriously, I'm usually a completest about things but if said "complete" re-recording were actually to leave off every single instance of this theme in the score I would be totally happy. It must be the most frickin' obnoxious thing Miklos Rozsa ever wrote (perhaps by design, I know). Too bad the INCREDIBLE Sailor's Song at the beginning couldn't have been used more in the score...

For that price, the boxset is a bargain.

I guess it's risk vs rewards. I ordered a 1000 limited edition score once that sold out in a week. I really didn't want to miss it. Just a few months later another label re-pressed it! Then again plenty of titles never get re-pressed. One can hold out hope it sticks around for years and is discounted, or miss out altogether.

Tempted to buy this for 2 or 3 discs and then sell the others individually for 10 bucks a throw.
